I just wanted to give a shout out to Chassis Engineering. I just finished replacing the front and rear suspension in the '47. The front end was a little tricky because of the typical lacking instructions but I worked out. It was a two man job (thanks JAson). But the rear end......... I did the rear end swap today, by myself! I'm not saying I rule I'm saying if you do some research and then put in a little elbow grease you can do what seem like pretty radical mods with relative ease. No more buggy spring! All the brackets and measurements were spot on. Now my '47 sits about 4 inches lower right out of the box. I plan on putting 2" blocks and an angle shim in there to get it where I want it. Anyway, if you are looking to do the same thing on your fat fender I highly reccommend their kits.
on they're site...how do i find they're kit to do that.i just looked it up but all i saw was the four bar stuff.
right on man, good to hear! ...think ill have to look into the same solution did you put IFS on the front?
Good on ya, Kirk! I've done about 99.7% of the work on my rides myself...and I can relate to long days and nights spent trying to tackle three man jobs alone...while spitting out my favorite saying "If it is to be, it is up to ME!". Builds character (and a few cars now and then!) as well!! You DO rule, Dude!
Oh I forgot to mention that the car only fell off the jackstand once. First time ever, and it was minor, but it scared the crap out of me since I was having to do some hokey shit to lift that 9" in there alone. And of course there were people across the street when it happened. I pulled a Pee Wee Herman and acted like I meant to do it. Dumbass!
