Now we need to try and smooth out the ride a little! I have a set of 300# coil overs in the back, and I ordered a set of 250#ers. It rides better, buy we have some pretty ****py roads and it isn't much fun after about 30 min or so. Thinkin about ordering some Beilstein shocks instead od th Aldens I have now. Any advice would be great!

  2. Hey Scoggman, the coupe is looking good! Love the pic of your little girl riding shotgun. My kids like riding in my '57 Ranchero too. My daughter, who's a teenager even sits beside me! As for the ride of your car, I wish I had words of wisdom for you but altering ride quality is a bit of a mystery to me but I know the HAMB will help you out.

Went by the truck stop today and weighed the hot rod. 2620 total, and fairly balanced with me in it (135lbs). No I can call QA1 back and size some shocks and springs.

I currently have the 13.5" aldan coilovers on there, and I could go up to the next length 17" (13.5 ride height) which would give me 3" of travel on the top mounting hole on my rear end, but I think I am going to go up 2 sizes (18.5) 15.5" ride height. and put it on the bottom hole. Ot may give it a little more rake than I wanted but I would rather have better ride than perfect stance.

Swapped out the Aldan coilovers for some QA1 proma star coilovers. Only got to take her out for a short dtive, but shoot..... like 1000 times better ride! To ne fair, my othere ones were too short and didn't have much travel, but the QA1s seem like a much better shock so far! 2015-02-21 20.39.53.jpg 2015-02-21 20.39.53.jpg

And it doesn't look too bad with the extra travel. It's on middle hole on my rearend, may drop it down to the bottom hole rghh.jpg

Jon, glad your happy with the new shocks. I changed from Pro to QA1 last year on my front suspension, and like you it made a great difference...Jim

Looks like plenty of travel to the bump stops... I'd try the bottom hole.

Man you should have told me sooner!!!! If it would ever stop snowing I'd go try her out a little more. Now I am just wondering if I should save up another $300 for the front ones too! I've seen people running the 1950 Plymouth shock on these straight axles from Monroe, and they are like $40.00, so I may give them a try..... We'll see!
