The d-nuts were gone on my driver's side door, so I screwed some standard nuts and washers on, then welded them to the inside of the door.

Well.... i've been reading a lot of the HAMB lately... and it is garage is cooling off some....

I'm starting to get the itch again... chop channel slam

I was reading about how if you hold a piece of br*** behind a piece of sheet metal, it makes it easier to weld up holes, because it lets you build up the weld, but it doesn't stick to the br***. I used an old piece of drain pipe and it worked great.

I picked up this dash at a swap meet eairler this summer. They guy said it was out of a 1938 Dodge? Maybe one of you guys knows? But it looks like it will be pretty sweet. I'm going to section out the center and pie cut the ends, to square it all up.

  6. Keep going, it's looking real good!

Does the dash have two glove boxes?

Thanks, Yeah, it has kind of two glove boxes, only one is hinged though. I thought it would give me access to fil my master cylinders, but it doesn't look like it will work out.

Yep, I am going to be a dad!!!! Crazy!!!! My wife and I are expecting our baby girl some time in mid Feburay.

    We are very excited.

So, time and funding have been changed for the moment, but hopefully we will get back to it soon.

I've seen and read about that a few times, have you ever done it? If IO can find another trans for cheap I my give it a shot.

I did cut the shifter appart and rotate it 180 deg and welded it back together, so it faced fwd now. I may even try to weld up a curved handle to bring it farther FWD.

    Thanks

Well, the dash was a little wide, and it angled out on the ends, so I cut it in half and sectioned it, then pie cut the ends.

Then I used the stock dash cover to get the right curve for the top and welded a piece of sheet on top.

    Looks pretty good

I have a newer after market 5" tach, and an older 5" speedometer, they don't really look right together, so I may try and find a newer 5" speedo. The driver's side glove box doesn't have a hinge, but it is removable, and I think this will be handy for filling my master cylinders. All in all, I think it looks pretty sweet though.

Update..... I just wanted to introduce to everyone Emma Lucille. The reason there hasn't been much progress on the A lately, but I'm sure you will agree she is worth it.

Mamma also wanted the bathroom remodeled, so I'm about done with that.... then back on the A.... hopefully!

Been following the thread. Congrats to you and Mom on the little one. My daughter is a prety good DYI'er and one of my best friends. Love the boys too, but she's #1 (and older than both of you!). Enjoy this journey.

Well, between baby and work I have gotten about three hours of work on the rod in the past two weeks. The rear window section's lines weren't great so I decided to weld them up. With a little more grinding and a little filler ther should look pretty good.

Last weekend I got the task to spend $200 in gas to move my sister in law's $50 worth of furniture from her student appartment into a house with some friends. Got a ton of s**** angle iron, (bed frames) and a sweet new bike pump out of the trash at the dorms.

Also, checked the craigslist there, just in case and I picked up a "new in box" Vortec Air Gap intake from a guy two blocks from the school. The Good Lord was lookin down that day. Saved like $75 plus shipping. Awesome!

I picked up a set of vortec heads a few months ago, now I'm just trying to figure out which valve springs to run, beehives, or "getto grind." And if I shoud go ahead and do the screw in studs. Any advice?
