Hi guys, Thinking about making up my own rear arch panels for a project I'm working on... (http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1960-humber-hawk.1020677/page-2#post-11549909) Never attempted something like this and I was wondering if anyone had any tips or techniques... As always, pics of the process would be a great help! Cheers in advance!
I did a how-to when I changed the front openings on my 47 Chevy, but that was without any sort of flare around it. Doing them 'custom' , with a flare is a lot more complicated, I might be able to dig up some old pics of an OT car I did to give you an idea. But it's much easier, if you just cut out and splice in wheel arches from a different car.
I am doing similar now on a restoration project. You'll need a shrinker and bead roller with 'tipping' dies. If you have access to them I'll take and post pics later today as I am making a set.
Hi Matt- Take a look at the repro Fulton sun visor I made for my Bedford truck (Tech features on Rods N Sods ) will also post on here if I can remember how It might give you an idea how to make your arches, the tool I made bends and shapes the sheet steel easy Good luck with the Hawk I saw a real nice yellow one with a blower at the Hayride Last week Cheers Dave A fellow Limey
Thanks for the pointers guys... Any pics would be gratefully received! I may have to go down the route of finding repro arches - but I'd still like to see how you guys have done them! Thanks again! Matt
