Mile drag racing is coming to the West Coast! Thats right standing-start, flat out speed, as fast as you can go in ONE MILE! This facility features a 12,000-foot runway that will allow for very fast speeds (250+ mph) and a comfortable braking margin. In conjunction with the Mojave Air and Space Port, a private airfield in Mojave, CA, the first ever Mojave Mile Shootout event will happen on March 6, 2010. While the premiere of the Mojave Mile is scheduled to be a one-day event, future events will be two to three days long and may attract up to 300 participants. The Mojave Mile will be open to both cars and motorcycles, and, as the event grows in popularity, is forecast to be held multiple times per year. The fabled March Meet at Bakersfield is that weekend and the Mojave race is held just 60 miles away. [12/07/09]
Are you aware of the Texas Mile that has been running for the last few years? Don't know if it's in your part of Texas, but you might look into it.
This is my 2 cents worth of I wish some one would have told me. Remember fuel pressure and volume you can and will lean out so watch your gauges. Also a John force burn out is not necessary just takes time away from other racer's. Something always breaks so take everything you can. The best part of this type of race is it's against yourself so smile and have fun.
They have been doing that here in North Carolina at Maxton http://www.ecta-lsr.com/ for years. Next someone is going to say outlaw hot roding and racing started in California Just having fun. I am sure it will be a great event, and I look forward to checking it out. Wil www.sakowskimotors.com
The Mojave Mile is not drag racing. Its LSR but most LSR cars won't meet their rules and regulations. Go to landracing.com and there is a link to the Mojave Mile. There are certain vehicles they don't want. So before you put in an entry and part with money make sure your car will meet their rules. One car at a time. Top speed only. No E.T. I got the feeling if you loved "Cannonball Run" this is the event for you. Heres a link. http://www.mojavemile.com/
Sounds like Maxton Mile. Top speed type event also, but more shut down area than Maxton. I think we need more 0-100-0, 0-150-0, or 0-200-0 type events. Go till ya hit top speed then slam on the binders....
Because that's a true test of a complete car. It can go and stop. I will want to check this out and then go up to the March Meet for my birthday weekend!
