One month till Bonneville speed week...Who's counting days?

Still lookin for a room, Are all the places doing the "Bullshit" 7 day minimum stay ? That is a joke .

Are we having our Meet and Greet in the usual place at the far end of the Pit?.....I can`t sleep at night I`m so wound up.....Wonder if they let people like me into the Betty Ford Centre....just over two weeks to go.....

This picture really shows just how insignificant we are compared to the mighty lake. Bonneville is a huge deal and even so it's still a very small part of the Bonneville Salt Lake and the rest of the view. Awesome photo!

07/15/09: Salt Report: July 15th 8 pm pacific time.

We have just returned from spending three day on the salt flats doing our prep work for SpeedWeek 09. We found the salt dry, hard and smooth. We were able to go to the same areas that we used last year and do our lay out. Yes we have three courses. We will return approximately. one week before the start of SpeedWeek and do more prep work putting on the final touches. Our thanks go to the crew of volunteers that made the trip.
Fred Dannenfelzer, Russ Eyres, Bill Lattin, Jim Jensen, Jim Dunn, Larry Volk, Gary Wilkerson and Mike Waters. The weather was great during our visit and if the weather holds we're in for a fantastic event.

 

I didn't take it. I've seen this image floating around on the HAMB for some time now. I don't know where the original photo came from. The last time I was at B-Ville, a small plane was flying overhead and landed on the salt! I thought "how cool is that, what a way to go to the Bonneville!"

 

House - They might let you in, but I've heard it's almost as expensive as a Wendover casino. Might as well stay at the bend in the road. See you on the salt, buddy. Is P-Dub coming, too?

Yep. Although I think Aussie Steve has a surprise `gift`for him as he has wimped out and isn`t bringing the Roadster. I will be at the Motel 6 as well...probably on the floor if things work like they usually do . I`ll look for you in BERKELEYVILLE...!! That is providing I get someone to undo these straps so I can get out of this white jacket thingy....don`t know why the arms are so long on this .......

 

Ill be there for sure on Saturday!

Wishing. In the process of buying a house. Maybe next year.

 

What's the story with the bend in the road? Do you need a reservation or is it just a roadside free for all? My pal and are heading out this year, first time for both of us. I'm really stoked but starting to get worried and realizing that I don't know anything about what to do when I get there. Is there going to be a guided tour for nubs? See all you kooks on the salt.

 

Story is, you just pull up, find a spot and camp! Did it last year.. Lots of fireworks till late, so if you plan on sleeping before 3am, aint gon happen.

Definetly not a waste unless you borrow a giant set like I did and set them on the hood of my freshly waxed truck. They slid off and when I looked thru them again there were twice as many cars. Cost me $350 to send them to a retired Navy guy in Virginia Beach Va to fix. Never again !

At 7:00PM on Saturday, Aug. 8th, I'll be playing a free acoustic concert at Don Moyer's Avion Concert Hall. Look for the shiny zepplin (see photos earlier in this thread) at the Bend in the Road.
My music is all hot rod, all the time. But it's kinda quiet original acoustic stuff, so we're doing it early, before the Speed Gods get all Saturday Night on us.
Bring your own drink and shade and kick back for about an hour. Should be nice.
Caveat: I'll be there crewing on Nexxussion's crazy Berkeley roadster, so I may be a bit crispy.

I'm coming out from Oz, tagging along with fellow Aussie Norm Hardinge and his Big Knob Racing '34 roadster. Can't wait!

 

I'm leaving on weds for the 5th, no hot rod ran out of funds. I will be camping, although the crew I'm going down with has at least one room for showers, pool and recouperation. I will be with the dodge boys and their fast 4 roadster. they hope to set a record this year, had one for 12 hours last year. I have something special for Denise.... see you there!!

 

I will be there on the 9th camping at the bend in the road in my teardrop.
