Hello, Nice film of the old Balboa Ferry coming across from Balboa Island to the beach side Peninsula. That guy is getting his small sailboat ready to lift off and get put in the water. He moves the boom over to probably attach the sail and get that portion ready. The area currently does still offer sailboat rentals and those sails are already up. So, it does not take long to be out on the water. For those that can sail, the area is a fun place to be on the water and go up and down the long bay. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...one-by-part-2.1154030/page-4195#post-15196945 The location of the incoming ferry is right next to the Pavilion in the posted thread above. The sailboat rentals are in the water side docks next to the Pavilion and ferry ramp. Jnaki We have been coming to this portion of the So Cal coastline since 1949 and it has grown, as other places have, too. Our dad used to take us fishing in a small row boat at the other end of the bay. But, sailing down the channel is a fun thing to do. My wife and I have enjoyed it to the point that we almost got a private dock to park our sailboat for our next coastal home. Thanks for a nice clear film clip... The salt air on cars left outside so close to the bay and ocean always has consequences for the old car and anything metal. Even inside of an apartment or house. Rust never sleeps... @Rolleiflex

With exception of an occasional palm tree this might well be any town USA back in the day, & to think so many prime examples of those rare body styles live on only on film, looks as if the harbor scene has captured a couple of early hot rodders on an outing.
