My kid showed me the video and after listening to the song for years I finally got to see his CADDI. Any history who built it?, where is it now? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1-zzJnKtDg
Now we know who to blame for r*t rods. Always thought it would be wild to build one like that after hearing the song.
It is at the Historic Auto Attractions museum in Roscoe, Il http://www.historicautoattractions.com/Pages/johnnycash.html
Yes it is. Been there many times. If you're ever in the area it is a great little museum. Last time I was there Sanford & Son's Truck, the Charlie's Angels van, and the Grateful Dead's tour bus was there. It also has a great JFK & presidential collection.
Car use to just be parked outside of the J. Cash musem in the driveway. I still have a postcard from there when I saw it as a kid in the late 70's right in front of me in my office. I broke my dads camera getting out of the car because I wanted to see the Cad. my dad got all pissed off at me, made me get back in the car and then we drove around untill he found a K-Mart so he could by another camera. I never will forget having them unlock a glass case so they could pull out a Kodak 110 camera in a little yellow box!!! Dad got to take his first picture with that new spiffy 110 of me standing beside the car! Back of the postcard says "built by Bill Patch, an Oklahoma coal producer. the car is constructed of Cadillac parts dating from 49 through 73 on a 68 chassis."
Cool song, neat to see the car actually exsisted. Gotta love the way mr cash sing/talks through his songs.
