  9. Here's what happens when you get WAY too much time on your hands(I wish it was like that now!).You take an empty spray wax bottle and shoot it with Chromallusion and the stripe it.It's been refilled with more spray wax since.BTW Nice lunch hour project Mike.

try this and see how it works for you mix the next color alittle closer to the one previous and work it into the still wet paint of the previous color. You shouldn't see so much of a defined line between colors. Then again I don't know **** from shinola [IMG]

The easy way to do blends is to airbrush wet on wet.

Or do a brush blend.Done properly,it will look like it was done with an airbrush.
Unfortunately,it's easier to show how, than to explain.
Not sure how it would work as a reverse painting.

  16. Nice stuff Rob!In regard to blending colors,I find that one of the best ways is to do 50/50 mixes. For example if you want to blend flames and you're starting with white, brush that in first to about where you want the blend to start and then lay in some Lemon Yellow up to where you want the next blend to start.Mix(on the palette)a 50/50 blend of white and Lemon Yellow fairly thin and brush across the juncture of the two colors. You may have to work a brushful of thinner in to get it to flow out but you'll see it transgress nicely. From the Lemon Yellow junction blend in some Orange up to the next blend area.Repeat the blending process.
Always go from one color to the next one on the spectrum and with a 50/50 mix it usually blends well.People have problems when they attempt to blend two colors too far apart on the spectrum.
Glen Weisgerber from Edison NJ was a master at blending colors like that.I learned it from him.Glen is without a doubt one if not THE best pinstripe/airbrush/sign artist in the country today. You have to watch him work to believe it.
I first met him about 20 years ago in Boston where he was doing a seminar on race car painting at Butera School of Art.My friend Jim Garballey teaches there and invited me over to meet him.
I figured I'd run over and spend a couple hours there and go home.I wound up spending the ENTIRE weekend there!
In Jim's garage(where the seminar was being held)there were about 75 students from the school watching Glen paint a chrome grille and headlights on a Vega Funny car.
It took him about 45 minutes to do the entire job and during that whole time you could have heard a pin drop on the garage floor.Mostly people sitting there with their mouthes hanging open not believing what they were seeing.
He had painted the name(Uncontrollable Urge)on the sides in a bevelled gold font of his own creation and it looked so dimensional it was unbelievable! He also painted(and I just realized that this was where I learned to paint license plates)an extremely realistic plate on the back complete with expiration sticker.
Not only is he an incredible artist he is a great and humble person. He even helped paint the hood of my wife's Tracker(which was destroyed in a hailstorm but I still have the hood)along with Ken Jacobs,Alan Johnson ,and Howie Nisgor with a full cast on his right arm!He had undergone carpal tunnel surgery the week before!
Sorry for the rant but I just got caught up in the moment!
