Event Coverage One weekend, two Deuces, 3 car shows, a trip to Goodguys Nashville

My good friend and road trip pal Russell "Duck" Guy drove our Deuce roadsters from Knoxville over to Nashville on Friday for the Goodguys show, our main purpose was to see what won Hot Rod of the Year and have the kind of fun that can only be had in a roadster. The drive over and back did not disappoint, East Tennessee in the Spring is a site to behold.
When we arrived about 10 AM the racetrack infield was already packed with hot rods and customs. Before we even got settled in a Goodguys official tagged my car for an award and a place in the winners parking area Sunday, that was a real surprise. The weather was perfect Friday and rain was forecast for Saturday till midday, and Sunday was to be good weather as well. After leaving the show Friday afternoon we went to another car show/cruise in in Hendersonville Tn. and Ducks roadster was chosen for "The Pick of the Week" award, a bit of serendipity since we had no intention of being judged we didn't even clean the road grime off either car.
We had the good fortune to be invited to stay in the guest house of a good friend in the area so we waited out the rain on Saturday morning by hanging out in his home shop perusing his collection of cars, signs, and assorted hot rod goodies. After the rain cleared Saturday we returned to the show to view more cars and visit with friends. Saturday night we went to another cruise in/show in Portland Tn. no awards were won but Duck and I both won a door prize. Sunday more of the same and looking closely at the 5 finalist for HROTY, and speculating on which car would win. I'm sure you know by now that it was Coby Gewertz with his over the top striped 33 coupe. He is a great guy while talking with him about the practicality of the seating position being so low and far back in the cockpit, he invited me to get in and see for myself, amazingly it offers a better view of the road than you would expect.
