I have a 69 Camaro with factory wiring. I bought an engine with a one wire alternator on it. I've seen other threads saying I need to jump the first and forth wires on voltage regulator, so I did that. After looking at the wiring diagram it looks like I can just eliminate it all together since one of the wires (blue) is for the old alternator and not being used any longer. Does this sound right? Also, if I'm just running a horn using a hot wire directly to it, can I eliminate the horn relay as well? Thanks in advance. Also, I'm a novice, so please answer in simple terms if possible.

Part 1 of question. You only need the 12 gauge red wire like you said. Part 2 about the horn. Use the horn relay. It operates by using a ground signal. Meaning instead of using a hot positive 12 volt power source, you use the negative of a the battery which is pretty much anything metal on the car. IMG_4153.jpeg

Thanks for the response. I'll keep the horn relay.

This is a diagram that I snagged years ago for changing from an external regulator Delco Alternator to a 10 or 12 SI internal regulator alternator. I used it on my 71 GMC and it is pretty simple.

For the one wire setup you just have play the "I don't need to hook that one up" game .
This should work on any Delco external regulator rig from 62 to 71.

I'd just unplug the plug from the back of the stock alternator and tape or zip tie it to the wiring harness it runs with and unplug the regulator plug and call it good. No need to cut any wires or make big changes. Or just toss the STREET ROD alternator in the parts bin and run the original alternator and be done with it.
