  4. Well I know the matrix has been glitching lately but Ohio to west coast is supposed to be a few hrs time difference. Some kind of time zone thing where the sun takes a while to get over there. Somewhere along the line someone is so far behind they think they’re first.

Now, back to the original program,,,,
Who’s gonna help me get that machine?

Hey, I'm retired. What did you wake me up for?
Just kidding. Already awake and made a cup of tea for the missus.

I have imported items from overseas.
My first step was to get in touch with a local import broker and she knew all the steps and has ever since. I would talk to an import/customs broker in your area that knows all the import rules and hope you find a competent one like I did. I did a google search and there are ones listed in your area
You are fortunate in that container space cost has come way way down from what it had been too.
    Good luck

  9. Well I guess the HAMB met it’s match,,,
I did get 1 PM, he’s hoping someone could help because he’s 4 hrs into the boonies over there in AU.
The broker/exporter did get back to me, I’ll give that a better look I guess.

Can Hare & Forbes give you the dimensions and weight of the box that the machine comes in as that would be a good start. I'd love to help but I'm in the country and at least 2 hours away from them as they're on the wrong side of Melbourne and being a country boy and old as well I avoid the city as much as I can.
Don't know any exporters, have used a couple of importers but things have changed a lot since Covid so don't know if they are still in the game.

@jordabennett has had good dealings with them over this side of the country, might be someone more helpful in the food chain

  16. May be nothing, but I suggest checking the power requirements. Some grids are different, and I have no clue what Aus uses.

  17. I talked with my motor expert and my electrician, and 1 more.
That Aussie motor is 240v 50 htz. Will run fine on 220 60 htz.

I'd check into that a little more. Years ago my folks had a Krups slicer(250v 50Hz) from Germany. When dad's electric guy changed the plug he warned of potential problems. The motor gave out long before its normal service life and it only ever ran for a few moments at at time.

  19. My motor guy re did my bachoven meyer nibbler motor. Swedish origin,
He also said if it burns up, it won’t but if it does we can fix it, rewind it, or repower it.

Australian 250v service is one hot 250v line, one neutral and a ground. US 240v is two hot 120v lines and a ground.

Sounds like you got a better electrician than my dad did

  22. Well then I’ll have another problem to figure out. And I’ll let them three guys know what you’re talking about if that’s the case
I need it here to begin worrying about that.

Seems there is a loop hole? Read this, however I’m not an electrician with credits behind my name. Here’s a copy and paste >
How do I convert international 220 volt single wire to American 220 volt two wire?
First I need to explain the issue. In most of the world, 230 volts are delivered to outlets as +230 (hot) and 0 (neutral) and, of course, a ground conductor. In the USA (North America, more generally), we do have 240 volt available (sparingly) in most homes, but it is delivered on two opposing phases: 120+ and 120- relative to ground, which gives you about the same 230/240 volts. However, if an appliance an appliance is built with the assumption that a particular leg is neutral, it may not be as well protected. The most obvious example is an ordinary screw-type light socket; the thread is easy to accidentally touch, hence is always wired to the neutral conductor (either hard wired or by a polarized plug [pins sized/arranged so plug can only go into outlet one way.])

However, for much of continental Europe the Schuko and similar plugs are not polarized (and can be plugged in either way.) Practically, this means that most 230/240 volt appliance made for the worldwide market take this into consideration and are designed to be safe even if power is coming in on the neutral (blue or white) wire.

Thus, in most cases, it would be safe to just to snip off the international plug and install a US-style 240 volt, 15 amp plug (similar to the standard 120 volt plug but with blades in horizontal orientation.) The blue and brown wire go to the flat blades and the green/yellow to the ground pin. Now comes the hard part: finding or installing a 240 volt, 15 outlet; these are almost never found anywhere in an American home.

Finally, there is the issue of frequency: most modern electronics and all resistance heating devices don’t care if the AC is at 50hz or 60hz, but it may be an issue for those with motors.

  24. The motor will also be running 20% faster if it's designed for 50 hz and is given 60hz.

  25. What should I feed my dog again?

I’m sure I can repower it for a couple three hundred if I have to.
Once it gets here I’ll be so happy I’ll spin it with a hand crank if I have too

  26. You have 250 v 3 phase in the U.S, yes?. If you have a 250 10A 3phase service, you only need to connect 1 of the phases and neutral to get this thing working. It has a 240v, single phase motor rated at 1.5 HP, so it will draw around 5-6 amps. (it says 240v/10A in the specs, but that is the rating for the single phase service it needs to be connected to. Not to be confused with the actual power rating of the machine.) The 60Hz supply frequency will make it hammer a little faster. I have been converting 115 V , 240 V and 315V 3 phase stuff for many years, there are always solutions if you get stuck.

  27. And if that’s a problem I’ll spin it with a VFD at 50 hz. Or I have to make a decision on what is the best way to make it go after it’s here. Vfd, or rewind or repower. Once I see the shaft size, the mounting style, the HP, the coupler element,,,,
