Thanks alot! You kept me up last night... So I measured out and fabbed up a front driveshaft loop tonight. My right arm works just fine now, I'd kinda like to keep it that way. No pics of the loop yet, but coming soon.

So, what about the front of the frame rails? Make them look stock, or cut them behind the front axle? Even with the grill shell, kinda like the Rollin' Bones frames?

Well, yeah... except it doesn't get torn all to hell every saturday night. The worst part about building the Hot Rods compared to racecars, is all my helpers leave when we stop working on the racecar.

I'll still take Hot Rods over Racecars, anytime!!! (Alot of fun to mash on 700HP though).

Yeah, I keep going to the mailbox looking for my Wixski Valve Cover to show up. WTF? I'll take a set of those cool ass 235 Wixski V.C. wingnuts as a consulation prize...

    Thanks, by the way.

  9. Looking good Kev! I like the axle exposed like the Doan Spencer style, but where will you put the front spring?

It will have an A Model front crossmember right behind the radiator, and the spring will tie into the wishbones. That way the only thing you see from the front is just the axle, like you said. In these two pictures you can see it laying on top of the frame rails. I'm gonna have to cut it down to go between the rails, because they are designed for a channel (stock frame) and mine is 2X3 tubing. I'll take alot of pics when I put it in.

If you run the stock type front rails, will you have enough clearance on the axle? I think it would look better with the rails bobbed off, but thats just me.

I'm still looking at how to make this all work the best, and look right. Only two more weekends tied up racing, then its time to get to work on this thing for real. No more dickin' around.

I didnt see the first version but it looks good to me. Are you going to loose the front xmember & hang the spring off the wishbones? Also I have a coundersink die for the holes in the visor if they are 2 in in diameter.

Yeah, I'm going to get rid of the round crossmember with the spring hanger. I'm also thinking about pinching the front rails to end at the grill shell.

    What do you guys think?

    Here's the before version.

Oh yeah, the visor holes are fake, just black decals... wasn't sure thats what I wanted, so thought I'd see what it looked like. Poser...

Hey Kevin, looks like "my" Sedan is shaping up pretty good there!

  21. shorter is better , lookin good man!

  22. I like the looks of the original rails sticking out front but either way would work well, don't know, your call on that one.

  23. Hey Kevin,

I'm with the rear axle move back too. I've seen some cars pull off the extended front suspension but many just look wrong. Wheelbase makes a big difference. I like original type (curved) frame horns extended out but on tubing frames I think stopping them off looks better.

    Great progress, love them sedans!

Well I don't know about progress, I think we will call it a mistake. I thought I wanted to sweep the front rails to give me a little more clearance above the front axle. A bandsaw and a few beers later, we have a HUGE sweep. So.... after alot of thought and some very good advise from people that obviously know how to do their frames right (Scootermcrad, Dreddybear, Bass...) It will look like a VERY amateur version of the last three pictures.

It looks really cool so far. Good choice on the wheelbase and I can see the racecar influence in the rear suspension(coil overs:)). I really like the old school tranny and 3 pedals:D.
