I'm powering an early speedster with a hot rod Model A engine & Model A trans. Can anyone tell me how to convert the back of the Model A trans to an open drive shaft?
    Thanks

  2. Although they are technically dedicated to "original" cars this might be a good question for fordbarn.com There is a "kit" out there but I can't put my finger on it.

Way back when as teens we converted a 36 trans to open by merely changing the rear bearing to a sealed bearing and had a guy machine a flat plate to fit the back of the******* with a couple ears for mounting. The "A" being a three point mount there is no rear plate cover to copy but I think you could make one.
There may even be store bought stuff available now.

  4. Wonder if you would be better off getting an adapter to a V8 trans from a place like Bert's or Cling's and running the open driveline parts from a forties era truck trans?
