looks like you need to have more info before you have an opinion,i.e. who owns a car you don't care for. i have had customers that wanted a "show car" before. you know what, i took their money and built what they wanted. building highend cars will push your talent further than a lowend cars ever will. everything i do now is based on what i learned from thoes cars. the main advice i can give is,don't give your opinion until they ask for it. -danny
Built in Perth, actually, and a lot of the work done by HAMBer FantaC. Get your facts straight, Doc. GAMB = Gay Arsed Male Beatniks. GAMB Nooch GAMB Peddro GAMB lowsquire GAMB Brootal Flatoz and X38 tried to join, but they don't have enough hair and they're not gay-looking enough. Jimbob is being considered though.
Nah, they're just some bunch of fags that hang out at hot rod events. FantaC did a lot of the metalwork on the car, including the full metal interior. He's a clever bastard.
I am not familiar with this car, if you got any links to the build, I'd appreciate it.Will do some goggles on the pc at home, looks like it could proved to be interesting. Some great work those Auzzie's...
Good for you, man. Your shop / your rules / your customers. My shop is by invitation only. I'll consider, but I make the discision. Customers always right, right up to the point where it becomes Stupid and then it's.....yeah, better look for another fabricator. It's funny with money guys too. People with the money are the hardest ones to get it out of. I think you were Honest, and really....."That's all that can be expected and I commend you on it." Carl Hagan
whenever I do a real good job of insultinga customers idea, I always make it a point to say ... "but it's not my car". it's a spoonfull of sugar. sometimes, it goes well on shoelaces.
Oh that Merc is horrible. I think anyone who has the skills to do this is pretty bad ass but why do it is the question. Its not even a car at this point its a look at me and all this stuff on here car. That interior makes me want to punch my grandma in the face. I hope its not hard times for you about losing his business but damn your comments were right.
I know this will sound stupid, but: why have a car w/ Indepentent jag style front n rear, modern injected motor, bags, and all the elctronics and comfy bits that money can buy and then not drive it? This seems the dumbest thing of all, more than actually buildin such a pos.I mean, we all like our old cars the way they are, we wouldnt be here otherwise, but we must admit that at times they are plain unconfortable for any given reason. Now, i wouldnt change that w/ any modern crap, but since hes done it, why not putting it to good use? To each is own indeed, but good taste is good taste, no matter what.
pretty stupid thing to say if you ask me. Mercules was done with plenty of bad taste, but that's where you come in and build a tasteful merc of that quality. don't think he wanted a clone. who cares if a customer drives a car or not as long as the check clears and you are proud of your work.
"the worlds most beatufuly custom 51 merc" I never knew there was such a thing... There are a lot of mercs out there and I like a little something on each one. Anytime someone says "most" about anything I pretty much stop listening. That "Murcules" is an example of too much money and too little taste... A builder should guide a customer, and that's what you were doing! If Chris has any sense he'll see that and let you build the Merc he wants and the one you want to build.
What the fuck is it to you what someone else does with THEIR vehicle! Why debate the same old bull shit!!!
next time you see the guy kick him in the junk and tell him the chop sucks on his car jk hope you get the job
I'll put wheels on my next terd and call it the most beautiful terd in the world! AND! Someboday had better not say it looks like a terd! Cuz it's MY TERD! Once I wax it they'll change thier minds!
There are many vehicles I do not want to stripe but I do because that's good for business and my bank account. I wish that I could stripe hot rods all day everyday but that will never happen so I do the KIA's. Impalas, Hundays, Escalades and in between them all I get to do a few rods. Pays the bills and I'm not too ashamed. When someone brings me a picture of another stripers' style and wants me to copy it, I simply tell them, sure thing. I have two prices...one my way, and the other, his way. Mikey
You are an honest man and At least the the guy knows that. Wether you get the job or not he knows where you stand and you wont BS him. Good job! Stand up build em right. BTW, That queen is asssssugleeeeeee
The Merc in question is way too modern for my taste. Actually, I don't like it at all. However, if someone gave me big money to build one like that, bet your ass I would do it. Workmanship and style are two different things. The builder might not like the style, but the workmanship will show through. Gotta pay the bills.
it won the coveted Custom Sweepstakes 'Best Custom' Trophy at Blackie Gejeian's invitation-only Fresno Autorama, in 2008. Its a radical show custom, I like it and so did Blackie...
But when you say you have the "Most Beautiful 51" or the Most Beautiful 32, or the Most Beatiful Wife, or kids, or johnson...someone is going to disagree! A little humility goes a long way!
One of the best builders I know once told me that his job is to build cars for customers. It's not to be their friend, it's not to offer them advise if they don't ask for it, and it's not to turn them away. His job is to say "Yes, I can do that for you." If you don't know how to do something that needs to be done on the car, you farm it out, not turn down the customer. This cat I know didn't know how to weld in a roll cage. So he called the best roll cage fabricator around, paid him to do it, watched and learned as he did it, and charged the customer his normal shop rate. Which is no more un-ethical than charging a customer for paint rather than manufacturing it yourself. Someone brought him a beat '60s Corvette. "Can you fix this and build the car I've always wanted with it?" Yes is the answer, not "You'd be better off spending your time and effort finding another, better car to bring me." He already spent his time and effort, and he brought in that car. Your job is to fix it and make it the car he always wanted. NOT the car YOU always wanted. If you're not in business to make money, you simply have an expensive, time consuming hobby. -Brad
That is reserved for the traditional snobs...and/or HAMBers Look to the history of radical customs, nothing new here...Barris made a good living at it...
WELL PUT! i will print this and put it on my desk.. coulda used this pep talk 4 years ago before i flushed a pretty decent biussness...
