(see edit for WWII Bomber stop on the cruise) On July 22 we are having the Open Wheel Reunion & Friends at our shop, Hot Rod Ch***is and Cycle in Addison IL (near Chicago). All open wheel hot rods get a free Tshirt. We meet at the shop at 10, leave at 11:30, cruise around and end up at Texas Bbq in Lombard by 1:30. There will be designated parking for us all, and we will have a band. Should be a good time. Here's the flyer.
Love the flyer man.Wish I still had the roadster, I would make the drive. If it's a anual event, I'll come next year for sure, in my NEW roadster
Hit some cruise nights this weekend with the flyers and the response was pretty positive. Hope to see some of you there.
We were, but due to some cir***stances out of our control, we have to stay local that weekend unfortunately. Rather than be depressed that we can't go, we decided to do this instead.
I feel discriminated against because I have fenders. Oh Well, if I was local I would crash the party anyway.
Well, providing we find a babysitter I've got my wife actually excited about taking her first long distance hot rod ride. Open wheel and open roof all the way!
Next weekends the show and run. Hope to see lots of HAMBers there. The shirts are printed and waiting all the open wheel car owners to "get out there rod and play with it."
This rules! Our destination for the cruise portion of the day will be to DuPage Flight Center to see 3 planes from the Collings Foundation, who are stopping here as part of their midwest tour. $10 entry, and you are allowed to walk through the B-24, B-17 and the B-25 The Chicago military vehicle club will have a display. I'm working on get a spot so we can all park together. I can't go to Thunder Over Michigan this year, so this will be my fix. So needless to say, I'm STOKED!
Oh, and the band for sure is the Reluctant Aquanauts, without a doubt THE best surf band in Chicago. And yes you CAN surf on the lake.
Very Cool ad. I use to live in Addison years ago when all of us used to hang out at Jack In The Box on Lake Street and drag Race down 83. Any of you remember that time.
I've only lived here since '93, so I'm guessing that is a no. Jack in the Box, like the one's out west?
Addison IL. Any old timers out there that use to hang at Jack-In-the-box and drag race down RT 83? Sean
Yes they were in Addison in the late 70's and closed in I think 1980 They were GREAT I live in Atlanta, GA. and wish they had them here.
St. Louis still had them in the 80s, but I don't know about now. I've never seen one in the Chicago area.
