C`mon man, where are the pics of it leaving the barn? Or on the trailer, etc? Post more... And as far as the Camaro goes...I like muscle cars of every make. I just like some better than others is all. I am not a big Camaro fan, but that is a COPO 427 car...Nuff said...
Nice story, Andy. And well written too. Looking forward to more pics when you get them. For most of us on here, like someone said, thats the Holy Grail of hot rods, so document and savor everything, 'cause this is a once in a lifetime experience you get to share in. Nice Camaro too, by the way. I like it, and I'll admit it!
neat find , looks like a new roof in the barn it musta been leaking for a long time to have that much rust ? more pictures please
Andy, you could be trusted with that which is most valuable. The right thing isnt allways the easiest but its allways right. You,sir, did right by the car. camaro, pinto, gremlin, WHO CARES,
Welcome Andy! Great story and pics. Most of us have boners after reading through that!! Very interesting and well written. I also like your camaro, but hang around...you may get addicted to vintage steel. As you may have guessed, HAMBers like to see and hear all the little assorted details.
you are correct, too many cars like this get lost or parted out because the person who bought it couldn't finish the project. he manned up and admitted he wouldn't be able to,and now the car is going to someone who has the ability to save it. if more people would do that, there might be more of them around
Sorry to keep you guys waiting for more pics, but it won't be til at least Friday before anything happens. Trust me, there will be a lot of pictures posted when we haul it out. Thanks for the kind words about my writing skills. I actually have a degree in English, so maybe the money wasn't wasted after all. As for my personal character, there are two things that people shoud live by: 1.) Virtue is it's own reward. 2.) Reality gives you the strength to face drugs. Andy
Hey Andy, any Packards in your town? I'll admit I would've taken a different approach and it's not without virtue. I really can't stand the mindset that making an honest profit is wrong or dishonest. That being said I'm glad you have some involvement in the gig and it's something that makes you and your bud smile for years to come, actually for a lifetime.
OK Folks, the extratcion was completed yesterday, and now for the fun part, trying to post enough pics to satisfy your thirst. Go get a cold one, and give me a little bit of time to get a head start on the feedback. This is the alley behind the house. The fence was hung from 2" pipe. Front shot of the house with detail of the garage in back. Guarding the garage is a '79 GMC.
Ed took most of the week cleaning out the crud on the floor, which was knee high in some places. Inside the rumble seat were a bunch of parts, including the original V8 radiator.
These are the front fenders, which don't really look that bad. Drivers side running board. Detail. In Ohio, we call this "Surface Rust".
the moral of the story is to hang out in boys locker rooms ? ? ? what would you have to do to get a 5-window ? ? ? welcome from fellow Ohio farm boy Haney
Removal all of the parts, plus some assorted junk, begins in earnest. This a Pontiac wheel of some sort, according to Ed. Grill comes off of the front seat. Dave with a rare trophy, the light bar with the headlights, all in one piece.
Taking a closer look now to plan the next move. Here's what it looks like without all of the clutter inside.
Time for everybody with a camera to get a shot or two. Front license plate holder, with plate inside.
