Our conversation via land line (common telephone) last night was great. Made me remember a bunch of stuff. Good, bad and indifferent. The one thing that strikes me about your post Slepe, is how many people I talk to that hear the "Air Force" part when they ask what I did and don't hear that there are AF ground forces, and guys on the air craft that aren't holding the stick. But more often the friendly end of a machine gun. Para-Rescueman, Combat Controllers, AFSOC Security Forces, Combat Weathermen, TACC-P's (Tactical Air Command & Control Party) that are sleeping wherever they can. Or are running the ramp at the back of an MH-53 Pavelow or at the door of an MH60 Pavehawk that are in just as much danger and see just as much sand and nights sleeping on the floor of a helo. These guys are there, where the war is, and not flying a desk in the rear. Of course there's a need for every career field in the services. And without them, the boys at the front (or beyond it) often wouldn't get what they need. But for the troops at or beyond the front, they often don't see the USO shows, or have satellite TV, or internet, or mail, or care packages at Chirstmas, or. Well, you get the picture.

over 800 days of my life in Iraq/Afghanistan, never ONCE had time to go to USO. That and the shows are during my sleep schedule, or when I'm outside the wire. Oh well, there's always next year!

Hang in there Denise. I'm sure you'll see some goodies dropped off. Maybe folks were just skiddish about dropping stuff off when you weren't home.

There should be stickers on the way to each of the drop off points.

Yes, there are items leaving next weekend. The stuff for the Special Operations troops left last week. Their boxes are going directly on a military transport and not through regular shipping, so it had to leave early.

Shoot Breeder. We'll, can you spare a few bucks and ship some stuff up to us? Or I could give you an address, and you could just send the stuff directly. Are there any VFW's or American Legions near you that are doing a Christmas shipment? If all else fails, you could drop off the stuff there.

Cool man. We need to have that stuff by next Friday in order to get it to the American Legion by Saturday.

For any other Chicago HAMBers that would like to help, we're looking for a few hearty souls that would like to, or can, help divvy up stuff on Friday.

Been behind Kevin's AWESOME HAMB Christmas program from the onset. Just wanted everyone also to know that you can also buy a Christmas tree for our troops' families by going here: http://www.treesfortroops.org/

Bought our tree today and bought another one for another one of our troops' families...really easy and if you are interested, you need to do so by next weekend!

BTW, thanks to Kevin, HRCC, Django and ALL of you who have reached deep during these tough times to help those who mean so much to ALL of us. God Bless you ALL!!!!!

Go look again! I dropped off a box today & it looked like there was one already there. Collected mags, Singlefinger T's, a couple of hats, & toiletries.

Looked like we got a start!

I ***embled a CD of rockabilly Christmas songs (about 75 min. worth!) over the weekend. Now I just need to get it to Kevin's guy for duplication.

Great to hear it man. Doubtful, but could you ask the guys to take a shot or two of the boxes in transit, and maybe get some photographs of the guys over there getting them to post on here?
