Ive never really liked the tail lights on the caddy, So I photoshopped them flush with the body... pardon my crude photoshop work...

Opinions? better/worse? is it an improvement or does it take away too much from the character of the car?

    PLEASE READ
    Thread posted 2008 - This update 2011

I first posted this when I was kinda new here, there was never a car to cut up, it was just a discussion on styling to share ideas and see what other people thought. It may not have been my best idea, but if it saves other people from cutting up their cars, then it has been worth it. Thank you for reading.

I'd say leave the fins it does give character . This one is short and sweet so no big eye pull. One great looking car also .

Do one with the tail lights just above the bumper and swoop the 1/4s down about 15 inches from the ends.

That is a much better look IMHO . Takes the straight lines out and still has the Caddy character .

I like either the stock look, or the one dropped just over the bumper. Either way, its a sweet looking car.

Yes the swooped back has definitely grown on me... I should point out its not my car, I don't want to take anybody's credit...

I'm going to sound like a n00b now, but what year cadillac is it?

How about shrinking the original fins? Keeps the character of the car but less con****uous.

Make em bigger, or longer. Take em a 1/3 of the way up the decklid and decrease the lead angle by 1/2. That might require a taller tail light for balance. I can't photoshop very well or I'd do it.

I would'nt mess with an already perfect design..although I do prefer the more rounded and sweeping top quarters from the 49-53 Cadillacs

The straight one is too straight, the curved down one is kinda cool. How about grafting a 60 caddy tail light and fin on there so the lense would be just above the bumper and the top of the fin would be no higher than top of the original light. just a thought.
I like the chop on that caddy who's is it by the way?

Nope...it's a '54...see the verticle chrome trim on the side. On a '55 or '56 the chrome comes from the front and sweeps up into the side piece...'54 and '55 rear ends are almost identical and a '56 has a different rear bumper.

Personally, I think the stock taillight arrangement MAKES the Cadillac.

photoshop a '49 style on it. i always thought the '56 style was too large. gotta have something sticking up or it ain't a caddy!

that looks better... but finding smaller tail lights would be a *****..

I tried a 60 before the 59, it just looked too straight...
no more photoshopping for today... I`m getting sick of looking at it..
I dont know who the original chop was by, I think I stole it from a thread here..
I do think it flows, its just putting a 59 tail on a car seems so obvious now a days...

i`ll have a look at some 54s thanks...
I knew when I registered here, I`d end up wanting more cars..

The 59 quarters look sharp. Bet it would be a pain to make it work though.

Chop about a foot of length out of the trunk, and then try the straight you tops. Stylistically, its hard to see the fins because my eye keeps getting drawn to the missing window trim.
