Hello all, I've been out of the traditional rod scene for a few years now. looking to get back in.

I have a line on a 53 Plymouth Cambridge with 25,000 original miles. It just came out of a 32 year garage hibernation.

I have another car that I'm selling for $7,500. The Cambridge was offered as a trade. Here's a pic, and a link to some more. Is this in the $7500 ballpark? I can find these for sale, but none this clean and original, so I would appreciate your input.

    Thank you

sitting for 32 years i can guarantee you need to go through all the brakes and fuel lines, double check all the wiring and grab a new set of tires... and i don't think a '53 2dr sedan is worth $7500 unless it has SOMETHING special about it, which doesn't appear to be the case from the pics. as a prospective project car, it's not very desirable or "traditional" if you want to go that way. having said that, i'm a ****er for oddball cars and i'd personally drive the purple dog**** out of that... but not as a trade for a $7500 check. that's a $2500 car anywhere all day.

unless, of course, it has a Max Wedge 426 with crossram dual 4v's and a torqueflite 727 in it.

Nope, 230/three on the tree... That's kinda what I was thinking. I have a soft spot for the odd balls myself. Thanks man.

It might be clean and low mileage, but resale is questionable especially if you're into it for much over $2500.00

I was thinking about 45 hundred IF it has already been gone through and is road ready....

I noticed the chrome on the front bumper looks like it has been painted...

Also looks like theirs rust or peeling paint on the rims...

    In my book ,
    no where near 75 hundred....
even on a trade deal where
most people jack up the trade price.....For some reason !

    JUST MY THINKING..........

Alright, you guys have all confirmed my su****ions. I would love to get this car and do a straight axle deal with a couple four barrels sticking through the hood... Like you all said, probably can't get into it cheaply enough to do it.

I always view a car as if I had to sell it some day. A 53 Plymouth is not one of the most desirable body styles out there. Stay not too far from the mainstream stuff.

tell ya what; i'd max about 3k and look at keeping it forever.... it looks pretty solid and fairly good considering how ****ty chrome was in '53. drop it a couple of inches, put some better looking caps on the rims, do a brake upgrade and enjoy owning a survivor. scrounge up some windshield moldings and Belvedere side trim, maybe....

Yeah, the more I think about it, I think that's the way to go. Little cosmetic stuff and drive it. Maybe some new white walls, paint the wheels up nice. Paint up the engine, maybe find some old speed parts. Head, split header dual carbs. Hmmmm...

I might see if I can work something out with the guy. I don't know why I like this thing so much...

If you like it that much work out a trade plus cash. Sure you might come out a little short but you would at least have the car you want. Also not knowing what you are trying to sell maybe you should ask yourself honestly, is it worth $7500? Maybe that guy is thinking you have a 6k car. Also I'd like to know where you can buy a car like that, that clean and straight for the $2500-3000 quoted above. You sure as hell can't around here.

Cars that clean and straight and rust free aren't easy to find here in the north east. Maybe in the west, but then you'd have $1000 in shipping fees to get it over here. $2500 would be a steal around here. More like $3500-$4000.

I'm in the " yes it's old but not desirable " camp like several other posts . Once again , if you are going to keep the car , pay whatever you think is fair . If you plan to get it street worthy ( it will cost some $ after all these years ) and then flip the car , you'll find that people aren't lining up to buy a '53 Cambridge . It didn't make our hearts go " pitter pat " back when we were teens and it doesn't now ..... was considered an old man's car with zero styling , atleast in my area of the world .

I'd call it at $1500 - $2000 real money . Just my two sheckles .

Just noticed another thread where a guy picked up a decent '62 ......$1500.
