Try it if you like it good deal. If you don't like it then sell it to someone that does and put a stock bed back on it.
Don't photo shop it. Place the bed on it with out bolting it down and then take photos for the real look. The photo shop pics look too fake but the truck does look good in them.
If your bored with Ford and Chevy the Studebaker is a great alternative. Have built several of these Studebaker P/U, they were way ahead of their time style wise. First choice should be the stock original box....................................................
Nayooooooo!...sorry .....no offense to the photo shop guys cause it dont look bad if thats the "only" bed one could possibly use but I think it would need to be narrowed to do that. If I had to use it I would consider the narrowed bed with the original fenders idea.
If it didn't have the embossed tail gate to get it back into the right era, I'd say no...........But I think the treatment to the back end saves it from looking "too" modern. Try it, and if you like, atsa nice!
I like the Moose Photoshop including the red color. One suggestion would to be creative and make the body lines for the front and rear wheel well openings look similar. This would give it more of a factory look and make the box and the cab look more like they belong together. Good luck it should be a cool truck.
The fleetside box looks ok but I think the original stepside fenders look best to me. The wheel opening matches the front & that is what makes the Stude. look unique. IMHO.
This one is for sale here ( not mine ..giggle ) .... KEEP THE FENDERS Brother !!!! Gives it ALL THE CURVES ...... Ain't that what life is ALL ABOUT ??
Here's a Thought experiment and an exercise in abstract thinking for you armchair builders ,,,, Let your Mind's eye picture the bed sides movable while the fenders remain stationary. First, with your minds hand , Grab the bed side and push it towards the center of the truck. Can you see the gap between the bed sides and fender you just created ? Or did your mind stretch the fenders? The fenders are supposed to remain stationary and you see a gap between the fender and bed side in your mind. Now with your minds hand grab the bed side and pull it back out till the bed side flushes up with the cab , letting the rear fender pas thru the bed side. Can you see how much of the stationary rear fender and rear tires underneath those fenders is left sticking out of the bed side? It's quite a bit. Now with your minds eye walk around the back of the truck and see the fenders sticking out. Then with your minds hand push the rear fenders in flush and the tires with them. Try that first then,,,,, say "yeah build it!"
Well it looks like If I do this that I will have to narrow the bed about a foot. The Stude cab is 60 inches wide, the bed for the Champ is 72 inches. I do not have an original frame for the project, but I do have a 95 Dakota ch***is. The Dakota ch***is is the same dimensions as the Stude pickups. The track width is 60.8 inches, so I may have to narrow the rear a bit also.
