I like it! ^^^^^^ Where were you this evening? You get two demerits you know I'm going to try to make it over this week. Bill
I think he posted it earlier in this thread or one of his other threads but its an Eastwood Contour SCT
Just took a gander at the Contour SCT on Eastwood's website. An impressive tool indeed. So THAT'S how flop gets the beautiful finished look after the metal work is done. -Andy
I'm sure there is more to it than that, but that is a pretty cool tool though. Hmm...I got a birthday coming up. Time to drop some hints to the wife. -Andy
I say black now if it will work with what you intend to paint the body later. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
not sure of color yet won't know till I get ready to paint it next winter. it will change 100 times before it happens lol
Black, you can paint the side rails a different body color if needed. Your 5W would look great painted black.
I'll help you out a little.....paint the frame black. Before you put the body back on your black frame, paint the firewall and bottom of body black. Drive it like this for the summer. Then when you are ready to paint the body, go buy some more black paint, and paint it!
the fire wall and undercarriage are still the factory black and dash so I will probably paint the frame black again. not pulling the body this year maybe next year
True old school? Red oxide, all you could steal from the Steel Mill. Can’t beat the price. Sent from my iPad using H.A.M.B.
very true bulldog my dad worked in the steel mill here and everything he had had red oxide primer on it swore it would never rust lol
Yeah I remember in the 60’s especially it being called “red lead” which was used in the Mill’s. Not to be confused with red oxide primer. It was heavy and thick. Brushable but I never seen it sprayed. Highly rust resistant, and I’m sure it wasn’t good for your health. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Does the door bind once chopped since it is no longer in line with the lower hinge? What is required to make this work FLOP?
You got your answer . . . then, after you've looked at the body for awhile, do some killer final finish work and paint the whole car black! If you have a straight car, black ALWAYS works. With that said . . . every car I own is black (vintage and modern), so I might just be a tad biased! LOL
Running a little pumped up flattie isky thumper, bored runs well put wood floors back in and bare metal covers to match body
Did you need to raise the front of the engine to clear the cross-member (front pulley), or did you cut the cross member? Also, did you "shim" the motor mounts to raise the engine a bit - seems to be a bit higher than usual? How about the radiator mounting pads - stock location, or are they raised a bit as well? In my mind, don't believe you can get that later pulley to clear without a bit of "magic". How have you found the cooling to be - with the fan down low like that?
it has special motor mounts, runs 180 on hot days. pulley is close but does not hit, stock crossmember, stock rad pads
