1952-59 Ford original engine for a 52 ford customline

    wanted to ask if anyone may know what model flathead v8 i need to put back in my 1952 ford customline any specific block like 59a or 8ba or????

    An 8 BA is what came in it. Not cheap to rebuild one these days, but with care, it will last years.

    thanks for the info i was just worried they say theres diff blocks and the bell housing are diff and i didnt want to go buy one and it not work out in the car for some reason

    That version is used from 1949-53 in Fords you could also use the 1949-53 Merc 255, Canadian Fords still used the flatheads in 1954.It would be a good idea to try to buy one that will let you have it checked by a machine shop before you lay down your money as cracked blocks are very common,parts for the flatheads are also pricey which is one reason engine swaps to a later model are very common.You should also check our sister site www.fordbarn.com to help with the hunt.

    52-53 Ford engines were EAB's. THE 8BA'S were the 49-51 engines.

    Both were basically the same engine but the EAB's had higher compresion and a little different cam.
