History Original model A 3 window coupe ? WTF.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 34 GAZ, Oct 17, 2009.

  1. First impression i had after reading a national for sale add was " hey, it,s not an urban legend after all " and "how did that get to be in the Netherlands ? " I know about the two or three 1930 / 31 prototypes but this one is 1928 /29. After having the owner send me a few pics i,m certain it,s a roadster with a home made three window top. Top part of the door posts and bottom edge of windscreen just above the gastank look a bit to simple to me. According to the owner it was imported to Europe in the 1960,s. What do you guys make of it ?

  2. Home made. Nothing like the factory prototype 3 window A's.

Looks a roadster and a pickup roof section with the screen and door windows fabricated to join it all up.
Look how boxy all the fabricated sections are.

That's what I'm thinking. The distance from the back of the top to the trunk opening is just too weird and just plain wrong!

I don't believe it either. BUT I would rod it and drive the wheels off of it.

    At least it's different.

my guess is it is the back off of a steel back or Vicky, pickup backs are flat and thin.

  10. i like it but looks a bit cramped

  11. Henry, i noticed it for sale too and don't like it.
It's for sale for months and came from Denmark according the adverts
i found a few months ago on another Dutch site.

    it's cool either way.

  13. This one looks homemade, BUT...there was 1 that I know of with a factory photo. It is in the book "The Model A Ford and how Henry built it".
I have the book somewhere...look it up. It was a 30-31, but Ford never put it in production.
