OSR Bought Out CK Deluxe??

According to the main magazine supplier here in the UK, the publishers of Old Skool Rods have bought the rights to CK Deluxe magazine.

Heres what Graham Rennie from American Auto Mags has said......

GOOD NEWS !
Thought that some of you would like to know
that CKD has been acquired by the publishers of Ol Skool Rodz !
They have set up a new, separate company to handle it and they intend to publish two issues before the end of the year.
In 2006 it will be published bi-monthly, alternating with OSR.
It will continue to be called Car Kulture DeLuxe
and its format and content will remain unchanged.
Having said that, yes, there will be more articles, photos etc., and less white space
and a smaller typeface because there WILL be enough stories to fill the mag.
I have emphasised to the publishers, the need
for the mag to keep its own iden***y and apparently they understand that it must not be
the same as OSR.
OK, that's it.
Personally I think it's great news because, at its best, the mag was second to none in its coverage and content.
The future's so bright.........

I agree, OSR already has enough problems putting decent cars in their own magazine, some of those things I wouldnt even bother to take a picture of let alone put it in print.

I hope they honor CCdeL subscriptions, I sent in my renewal just in time to receive no magazines. Rat rod is dead, I sure hope they don't try to keep that Rock-a-silly rat rod style of writing going.

 

Who cares? I like the HAMB and it is FREE and if you like the board you auction stuff off to pay for the "FREE" site.

The only story I ever had published was published in the very first issue of CK Deluxe.....so as long as the magazine stays in business, I can still call myself a real car "journalist".

If it is true, it's not a total surprise to me. CK Deluxe is a recognized name. There are probably many loyal readers who still look forward to seeing issues of CD Deluxe. These would be readers who don't know as much about what happened as us HAMBers. These readers would just ***ume it's the same CK Deluxe that they have always purchased.


Like many other corporations that produce consumer products, it's common to purchase the rights to use an established name. it's not unusual for new owners, using their own staff, to re-create a product. Using the recognized name is a big selling feature. I believe that commodity is called name recognition.

 

Rocky,wasnt that HOT ROD DELUXE?? i still have issues 1 & 2 of that mag..even an article by Ryan and Dr.J in them too!

 

so "ALL"the cars in OSR are ****?it is funny how i have seen alot of the so called **** in CKD also...
i have seen a few HAMBers cars in OSR..
i hope that if this buy out is true,***uming that it is that they will keep the somewhat the same topics and photos,style in the new CKD..
time will tell boys.....(and girls)

Too bad they didn't buy up the ***le IRON HORSE,which has just resurfaced under new ownership.

The new staff is using the same font for the ***le on the cover,and that is where the similarity ends.A couple nice bikes inside,the rest is total ****.

 

...............congrats on that and I saw the nice artcle you did on your Buick in Speed & Chrome. I was just hoping that if the CKD heartbeat is still going, at least you may get something for all the unpublshed photos they owe you for...............

 

Oh yeah, it will be exactly the same. Lets see..none of the same writers or photographers and run by OSR. You figure it out. And if you can't, then you deserve what you get.

By the way, your definition of **** must differ from the rest of the world.
