and what, buy a ford PU!?!?!
buy it with a 4.6 or 5.4 and change the plugs sometime, particularly if it has rear a/c/heat......
you'll be beggin' for your chevy back!

IIRC, the Dexcool issue is more because of GM's ridiculously long flush/fill interval on it. Changed as often as the green stuff, it seems to do alright.

Every time I work on a "late model" my respect for mechanics is renewed. What a damn chore.

No ****. After rebuilding the engine in my 97 Tahoe, I was ready to kill something or somebody. Hated every minute of it.

I bought the replacement heater hose ****** with the clip from the dealer, but had to have the dealer retime the POS. It didn't matter that the dist was dead nuts, it wouldn't run right. (no advance) There is a white dot on the dist collar and on the intake to line it up but that doesn't work. You also might want to buy the o-ring kit for the fuel lines where they go into the fuel dist. block. Pay attention to how you install them.

    torque: Step 1......27 in-lbs
    Step 2....106 in-lbs
    Step 3..... 11 ft-lbs

nope, bought an old chev... Back when trucks were built to last a bit and were easy to work on. Wouldn't buy a new vehicle ever again.

do you have to "bleed" the coolant system on these cars/trucks? put a thermostat in my 99 tahoe today .just got back from my b'day dinner, the temp gauge rises and lowers going down the road, between the 185 and 210 mark. never goes above that.the reason i put in therm. was it would drop half way between 100 and 185 after shut down and starting back up, heater would not heat. any ideas? i hate any thing with a metric bolt/nut on it!
