I bought a peanut warmer at a yard sale yesterday. I don't know anything about it and I've spent 3-4 hours searching the web to find out some information on it. I can't come up with anything. If this is going to cause a problem by posting this on here then please just delete it. I just figured there has got to be someone one here that knows something about this. I would greatly appreciate any help. I don't want to sell it I'm just curious as to what it might be worth and possible some history on these things would be cool too.

Nice find! Hope an OT topic like this is OK too. Looks like a 1930's era item based on the electrical plug. Is there a patent date on it? If so go to the patent website and run it.

I did find one that was similar to it but it was a little different. From what little bit I did find I'm thinkings it had to be made around 1940 sometime.

I can't find a patent number on it. It has a plate on it that says "Hance MFG co" then it has a production number stamped on it.

From what i'm finding in a book ( Silent Salesmen too ) It's a Rex eletrical vender by Hance mfg. co.
It came in one cent and a nickel...the heating element was made be Westinghouse for Hance. The top would light up.
    A specific date isn't given , but I'd guess the 20's.
I'll try and find what they say it's worth...in a different supplement to the book, if I can find it ?

Wow cool, I saw the 1 cent one too. That one was even cooler than mine. Thanks guys I really appreciate. Oh and to the guy that said "Hot nuts" ya I laughed my *** off and that is probably a big reason on why I bought it lol.

Yep, in the price supplement C. 1996, it say $1000.00. I guess the top light would flash.

    Nice score.

I just plugged it in and it blinks and everything. I didn't know the top was gl***. Its so dirty I thought it was metal. The one I have isn't worth a $1000 is it?

Clean it up and you might be surprised.

Windex works great on everything but watch out for the the ancient paint as windex can smear or remove primitive color.

You are a braver man than me :)

I would be wary of cleaning it up just yet..... anyone prepared to pay 1000.00 or so knows what he is seeing without being cleaned. Some of those guys are nuts ( no pun intended) about that kind of thing.

Try getting in touch with ScaryLarry here on the HAMB... he deals in all that stuff, pinball machines, arcade stuff, etc.

Good Luck mind telling me ( us) what you paid for that thing??

DON'T clean it except with a soft brush. Let the next buyer deal with it - it's easy to "clean value away" on old things like this. If you are going to keep it / display it, do your research first on the best way to safely clean it without doing any damage.

I paid $30 bucks for it lol. I just thought it was cool and the lady said " I think it's worth about $200 but my husband doesn't want it back in the house" She said she would take $40 for it at first. I walked around for a minute and said what the hell it says "Hot nuts" on it. Who could p*** that up so I offered her $30 bucks and after she pursuaded her husband he said I'll only sell this to you if you arn't going to sell it. I wasn't going to sell it I thought it was so cool I couldn't believe they were selling it for that cheap. I thought at the most it would be worth $150 bucks. It will look great up on the shelf in my living room with all the other antique fire extinguishers etc... Thanks for everything guys I'm still pretty shocked this thing is worth that much.
