Just curious, since I write for Model Airplane News magazine. Been flying RC since about age 12, now I'm 38. FLown Control Line and Free Flight Rubber also. Just got into heli's too. All I fly are electric now, no more glow. Almost all brushless stuff. Anyone else? Mark
I still have some lipo pack layin around for sale. are you doin big electrics or small? i have packs for both
Just U control. Mostly 1/2A size Still have a lot of them. Always confuse right and left R/C control when the plane or car is headed back at me!
Always confuse right and left R/C control when the plane or car is headed back at me! [/QUOTE] Hot tip: For cars use a wheel type controller and lay it well over on it's side. Then imagine you're not steering the car but rather rotating it around it's center. Try it--works like a charm--no mental shifting of gears needed comin' or goin'. On planes as the plane comes toward you and a wing drops try "pressing" on it with your thumb to kick it back up.
I'm starting back into R/C after being away many years. Here are a couple of ships I flew in the 80's. The pusher is retired, but the other one I've just finished "restoring" and am going to fly again. Logged almost 400 flights on that one. I'll probably try electrics next year. The red one is another survivor but didn't need much rebuilding to fly again. It is a modified kit to make it look more like a 30's era air racer. Yes, it's "chopped", the canopy moved back and cut down. Home made cowling.
Controline whacko here. Lookin' at investing in an electric setup for stunt. Big bucks unfortunately. Also flown a ton of regular RC over the last 30 years. All the way back to where a nice basic Kraft 4 channel rig was north of 400 bucks. Since the e-controline revolution is in full swing what are the chances MAN will ever cover it?
If you have any interest at all in getting back into RC or Electrics especially, check out www.ezonemag.com. Make sure you peruse the duscussion forums, there are catagories for everything form boats, to cars, to subs, and yes, Electric CL. It's not that expensive any more. Lipo $ have come way down, power is way up with brushless. Dick Sarpolus has published several Stunt designs that are E-powered. Bob Hunt, (CL champ for years) now flys electric. THey use a shutoff timer for ESC (electronic speed control), so there is no radio needed. Mark
Old thread, but.... Man, the HAMB has EVERYTHING! I recently ran across a vintage (circa '67) Kraft KP-4B radio controller (never been used, still in the wrapper) and a bunch of corresponding servo receivers, equally unused. Worth anything?
I apologize if this is slightly thread hijacking, and I don't fool with R/C stuff...but are those neat Gary Conley mini V8's still around? I remember reading about those in the eighties...
