I was BSing at lunch today with a coupla guys and the "new" Indians came up;Would it be possible/practical to build an Indian clone from all the leftovers for sale and a mix of custom parts? What new softtail frame would be a good starting place? Fork assembly? I realize it would need a lot of Harley parts..............any ideas or sites to visit???? I've restored a few bikes' but this would need to be a shorterm project;a year or two.

How hard is it to get one of the "new" Indian motors ?

I've seen a couple in finished bikes,
not really that much different from a HD v-twin.

  6. All I've seen is factory returned and warranty returned engines, you'd have to go through them, and then you can't get parts, you'd would be doing yourself a favor by using the new power plus engine unless it not ridden a lot. almost all the restis the same is a harley, just get a softail and add indian fenders done deal. BTW it'll never be a real indian. Like that whole 98 Thunderbird with 50 ford parts thing right?

You can get alot of the engine arts from an evo, and they would cross over into the indian engine. Since the power plus 100 is based on the evo...more or less. You can also use alot of the harley from the glide series, dyna, electra, and such for the frame and whatever else you like.

You can find the parts, they are out there. When indian came back all the after market companies geared up, and started putting out stuff for them. Then when they got slammed into oblivion by their backing (cash) pulling out, the after market people got screwed and now they are sitting on alot of stuff. They would put ads out in mags about it because the amount of gilroy indians that are out, are few and far between compared to the harleys on the road. So the cost for ads goes to the harley stuff.

If you send me a pm on what parts you need, I can get you some info.

Also look up a riding group Indian riders, or iron indian riders.

I think thats the name of them.
