Did some electrical work on the side for a guy on a house he was remodeling. He was showing me more work he wanted done in the well house. Opened the door and behold I saw the edge of an old sign behind some old junk. Worked out a deal with the guy for partial trade. He said he wasnt intersted in it, he was gonna haul it off as s****. He said it was his grandfathers and had been there for 25 yrs. Its 3'x7' , needs a bit of hammer and dolly work and it has some burnt spots on it. The story is that it was on the front of the original store and the store burnt. The sign is supposedly all that pretty much survived.
Hope this wasnt to off topic but it goes right along with everyones gas stations in their shops. This will be a good addition to my station. Anyone else like these old signs?

Give it a wash and a wax and hang it on the wall

Sure beats looking at an empty space.

  6. Leave it as found. You can't fake patina. Great story. Great score.

    Sweet!

I like 'as found' stuff much better than mint or restored cuz you know it has a story. You're lucky and got the story with yours.

As a kid in in CenCal we'd get a 16oz bottle of RC for 10 cents, then drink a little to make room for pouring in a little bag of peanuts.
