Hey guys, figured I'd ask here before getting chewed up over on the main board...

I have project ADD and picked up this Galaxie in a trade for much more OT Mach 1 project car.

It has what I believe is a 352 in front of a Cruise-O-Matic. I have been stockpiling parts to swap in a toploader, but need schooled on FE's. I have learned that there are two iterations of flywheel/ starter combos: early and late with different tooth counts. I don't have a sheet metal spacer plate (plate between the engine and trans?) for the manual bellhousing.

So question: is it possible that my current spacer plate will work with the manual bellhousing and index the starter correctly? Can I ***ume that if the auto flexplate and flywheel that I have (early) have the same tooth count, that I can re-use the auto trans spacer plate and starter?

Obligatory picture to keep folks entertained:

for FE's the auto/manual spacers are the same. if the flywheel/flexplate have the same tooth count the starter will work for auto/manual.
