 --- or adapted them, --- to test gas turbine engines. In the late nineteen-fifties they were moored in Poole Harbour, Dorset. Locals nicknamed them Whiz and Swiz because one worked well and the other didn't. They were beautiful boats, with sculpted (ie not flat) decks, streamlined cabins, turquoise colour I think.
Has anyone ever heard of these boats since?
Does anyone know a forum or site that might match this query? :)

I googled Whiz and Swiz - Bristol, and found a forum that had a short discussion on this - perhaps posted by the OP here, but then some tool decided to talk about Unlimited Hydro racing in the US and muddle it up with references to Allisons and Griffons and then a brief mention of turbos. Could not find any pictures, but I'm eating cashews and didn't want to spend too much time on it.

Yes, but there are those special occasions when only H.A.M.B.'s unique global brainpower can throw up an answer ---
