I'd like to plan a trip to see next years GNRS. Is anybody willing to recommend a place to stay near the Venue? We'd be coming from Wisconsin to a place we've never been before. Any tips on where to go or not go? We'd like to reserve as much as possible as soon as possible. I want to see that Show before I croak......Thanks...Centurion9
The Sheraton is literally in the same parking lot as the G.N.R.S. and the N.H.R.A. museum, also a must see. If you can't stay there I'd stay near the Ontario Airport off the Vineyard Exit, its only about 12 miles down Interstate 10 from the Fairplex. There are a bunch of hotels off the exit and an In-N-Out Burger, a must eat if you never have. It's also worth the drive to go into downtown L.A. and see the Petersen Museum, but I suggest going on Saturday morning that way you're not fighting L.A. traffic on a Friday. Here are the Hotels listed on the Grand National's Website: The Sheraton Suites Fairplex 601 West McKinley Ave, Pomona, CA 91768 (909) 622-2220 $125 per night Single/Double occupancy The Shilo Inn Suites Hotel - 3101 Temple Ave Pomona, CA. 91768 (909) 598-7666 $99 per night Single/Double, $10 per person after. Room Rate includes breakfast. The Ontario Sheraton - 429 Vineyard Ave, Ontario, CA 91764 (909) 937-8000 $99.00 rate The Ontario Hilton - 700 North Haven Ave, Ontario, CA 91764 909-980-0400 $89.00 rate
Guys...Thanks very much...I'm going to book right away...I'll adjust the dates if need be. It's tough to know where to go in a strange town....Much appreciation! Centurion9
I would stay at the Comfort Suites in San Dimas, on Bonita Ave, about 5 minutes west of the Fairplex. You can walk to 3 or 4 nice resturants, and the manager is a car guy. A contingent of HAMB'ers stayed there this year, and liked it. It will be less money than the Sheraton.
The nice thing about the Sheraton it's virtually a mecca of who's who in the hot rod industry staying there. The bar off the lobby in the evenings is PACK full of folks in the industry and Saturday morning in the lobby is a not to be missed event as folks gather & mingle right before the luncheon. Also, you don't have to pay for parking each day that you want to visit the show if you stay at the Sheraton. We parked our car right by the red gate and the side entrance to the Sheraton so that if we had an armload of stuff we could exit the gate, put it in the car and head back inside the venue. Very convienant.
