I dunno if you'd call it a hot boat, but picking this up. Kid turns 12 this year and has boaters safety, so he can drive anything under 35hp by himself this summer, so this will be his way to get around and visit his pals on the lake. If he can get dad out of it, lol....
My grandfather, uncle and dads race boat, photo from the 50s Not sure which engine in this one. The first version had a flat head and the next had a SBC Dan
My brother stopped by to drop off my snowboard today and looked at my garage and said "man, you're doing life right"
Man I just saw a cougar cub like mine that was on a trailer that tilted up like that, not out of necessity, but to match the dude's big boat, lol....
GNRS, '26 I find this fascinating but it's not mine because I don't pack the gear to get in it! The detailing is amazing. Also, there is nothing cheap about this by any stretch of the imagination.
GNRS, '26. This is just a beautiful build but once again, not mine. If it was, you could not hear the engine above my screaming.
Went with a friend of mine to the GNRS to move in another buddy's '65 Stevens. His dad bought a bare hull new from Mac then spent 2 years putting it together. Still wearing the original gelcoat, SBC, everything but the original upholstery. Friend who I went with did the mild resto at his shop, stripped hull, block sand, buff and so on. Rewarded with best of show, there were I think 9-10 boats. Nothing like last year.
Jimmy and Tim also did the resto of Bill Kuhn's Porky Pig a few years ago. Stunningly beautiful boat.
My old '66 Howard. Probably should have hung on to that one. Howard Brown rented a house from my parents when I was a kid in the mid 60's. Dad got into the boat building biz about the same time and by default so did I. Worked for Howard and the person he sold out to a**** many others back in the day. All 3 kids (youngest daughter is up front between us) all have their own kids now.
Cup holders and a p***enger seat with your legs next to zoomies and a hand grenade does seem to be ironic.
@Moriarity do you have any pictures of that cool trike next to the boat ? We used to have a 1974 checkmate MX-16 I was running a tweaked 1977, 150 merc inline 6, 3 carbs tower of power boysen reeds and rejetted carbs it would run around 65 mph it was fun . It's named after Al Bundy's favorite saying " Let's Rock" .I have a picture of it somewhere after I restored it .
