Here is my christmas gift to myself. Got this yesterday in a trade for an old gun I had. Mid 50's Harmony Patrician.

 

I play an Eastwood Airline Bass through a 1968 Kustom K200 and 2-15's in charcoal metalflake tuck n roll in a 60's garage band called 45 Spider. I collect early Kustom gear. I have 2 1968 4-10" cabinets and a K200 PA, and a 1969 Kustom Kombo organ, all in charcoal metalflake. Early "hockey stick headstock" Kramer Pacer from Neptune NJ , Custom Yamaha Pacifica with Tele body and 3 soap bar humbuckers , Ovation Elite , Marshall JTM30 amp , and a Digitech TwinTube pre-amp here . Played mostly rock and 80s Metal . Trying to due more blues and classical now , if I can trade a wrench for a 6 string in my mitts .

My dad was a professional Jazz Sax Musician, and music teacher. I learned to play the Clarinet at 6, the trumpet at 8 and then started on Drums and never looked back. Studied with a couple of well known drummers (Merv Kennedy and Ralph Humphries) and got to play with the Don Ellis Band one summer (Google him, composed the music for The French Connection among other accomplishments) At one point I owned a small chain of Music Stores in OC for about 10 years. I played in quite a few bands with my Dad (who had also played with Don Ellis in the Glenn Miller band back in the 50's), Mostly Big Band Jazz stuff with a lot of old cats that were there back in the 40's. Now days I haven't drummed in years but still pick at my 57 Strat now and again (and not very well I might add)

 

It's been a long time since I posted in this thread, but since then, our band Hot Rod Hucksters recorded at Sun Studios this past year. Talk about a religious experience!

It holds up well, but I use covers and try to be careful. Kustom stuff is pretty durable, but heavy. I had a 3x15" cabinet, but after 2 back surgeries, I switched to 2 and it still kicks my ass at small clubs sometimes. The organ is 200 pounds, just ridiculous. We have a lot of fuzz guitar in our songs, so the old Kustom gear saves me from buying too many pedals to replicate it. I'm glad Chili Phil started this one, I know it's an old thread, but I really dug seeing all the cool old gear other guys had. Not sure why it died, so I figured I'd fire it up. Hope no one minds.

I can play a few songs on the hamonica, never impressed anyone. My youngest is a kick ass guitar player and drummer, my oldest plays key boards and sings, and my daughter was a pretty good drummer back in the day.....

Now it's fiddle all the way!!

 

I am a big guy, not a fat guy just muscular. Everyone thought I should play football.

Instead I played in the pep band, everyone hated me. Small town in Idaho, pep band consisted of me on guitar, my younger brother on drums, a keyboard player, electric bass and the music teacher on electric trumpet. It was a hoot and we were asked to turn it down many times.

Musical family, we had a band, "The Sarsaparillas" and played all over, rodeos, lions clubs, that type of thing.

Now I just play in my bedroom but I play everyday.

So just what can I play?
