Try real hard on my 4 guitars...one Strat w/Texas Specials, an Artcore hollow, Schecter 006 Deluxe, or my '65 Teisco De Rey. I don't play my dad's bought-new '65 Strat. I'm afraid of damging it in one way or another. I play through either my Fender Frontman 25R or my dad's '65 Twin Reverb. Glad he kept that worthless crap.

Acoustic bass, play with a couple sixteen piece big bands and a jazz trio. Made a living at it in the '70's - early '80's, makes a better hobby than an occupation.

  17. Ah, another swing and jazz bassist! You're on the money about it being a better hobby than occupation. When you're relying on music for your living you tend to take on all sorts of crap gigs ..... eg: playing mickey mouse in a shopping mall :p

I play guitar, drums, and bass. I have been playing the drums for 6 years, bass for 5 and guitar for 4 years. I have a Pearl 5 piece set. My bass is a Fender P Bass and a fender amp. I have several guitars. I have a 74 Fender Mustang (Re-fretted it myself), a 96 American Strat, Fender Acoustic, LaValencia Classical, Heit Deluxe, an old Domino acoustic that is older then dirt, and Fender Princeton Deluxe amp, and a 65 Fender Bandmaster Head going through a Marshall 2x12 cab. Right now a friend is borrowing my Marshall cab and left me his RedBear 4X12 cad to use.

  20. Here's a joke for all the harmonica players on here.
I noticed there are several harp blowing HAMBers......

This was included in an email from the president of the Nashville, TN
Blues Society who sends out a reminder of their weekly jam session.
Since I attended some of the jams this past summer, I'm now on their
    mailing list.

A harmonica player dies and goes to heaven. There's a long line at the pearly gates, and some dude is going around telling folks in line that they can check out Hell while they are waiting for their spot by just going over to the red elevator over there (points).
"You know, if you don't like it, just get back on the elevator and come back up."
So, the guy thinks to himself, "hey, gotta check it out...maybe it ain't so bad after all."
So over he goes, gets into the elevator and down he goes... the elevator stops, he gets out and the Devil himself is there to show him around. Off they go and pretty soon, he's thinking to himself that maybe this ain't so bad after all...they stop in at a nightclub, and there's a great little band inside who's playing their asses off. He spots some famous folks he knows... "Hey, ain't that Little Walter over there?" They leave, and he finally asks the Devil, "Wow, those cats were smokin'. This place is great! But one thing... there's got to be a catch to this...What is it?" The Devil turns to him and says, quite matter-of-factly,
    "No solos.":D

Tennessee Two in T.D. You'll find them if you click on the pics below. :D

Met HAMBers Axle, Nads, Sledge and many more when I played my first
Viva Las Vegas back in 1999. Oh boy, time flies... :p

I've played drums since 5th grade but, not continuously.

As I like vintage cars and trucks, I play on a vintage American made Rogers blue metalflake drum set.

I took piano lessons for 9 years almost all the way through my high school years. I got pretty good at it, but my piano teacher didn't like me mixing blues and ragtime into her favorite classical pieces. I'd do it just to piss her off. She was always on my ass... but looking back on it, she made me a better player.

It's been a long time since I played regularly, but I hopped on the piano at my parents house and it slowly came back to me about 60%. I'm finally making plans on moving the piano to my house so I can pick up where I left off years ago. I'm kinda excited about it.

We're opening up for a band consisting of Robert Gordon, Slim Jim Phantom (Stray Cats), the guitar player from Roxy Music and the bassist from the Sex Pistols on Jan 23 at the Abbey Pub in Chicago. We're pretty stoked. We've opened up for Lee Rocker before. Now if we could just corral that other guy... :D
