OT...I'm going to the X-GAMES next weekend!

Hello Hambers,
I just wanted to give a heads up to any hotrodders (w/kids) out there in So-Cal that may be attending this years X-Games event in Los Angeles. They are hosting a "skate legends" skateboarding demonstration where 10 of us will skate on Sunday the 5th of August, right before the vert mens finals. We are skating in a relaxed exhibition demo atmosphere. Like 45 minutes max.
Here are the list of skateboarders who will be in the demo including myself:

Tony Hawk (Tony just agreed to do this, so now that makes 11 of us)
Christian Hosoi
Duane Peters
Chris Miller
Jeff Grosso
Mike McGill
Lester kasai
Steve Steadham
Tony Magnussen
and Kevin Staab

The reason this relates a bit to the Hamb because this toy company (Techdeck) has agreed to sponsor our event and i picked the graphic that Dirty Donny did for me recently and it's the dragon driving my old Model A!

Tech Deck has produced 1,000 tech decks (finger boards) of each our graphics. Each skater will receive 500 for our personal use and we will give away 500 of each deck after the event at a autograph session after the mens vert finals.

Remember ...this will only be a demo and not a contest, it's to honor those who paved the way for extreme sports who are still active and skateboarding to this day!

Just ..."spreading the gospel" of traditional hotrods "extreme" style

Wow what a line up of skating legends. Good to see Duane is out and kickin, his acid drops into parks and pools blew my mind back in the 80s. Have fun

Sounds like a skate session from my childhood.Hopefully they will air it on the X-games coverage.It will be great to see Lester,Magnussen and Steadham skate again,Its been too long.......

I wish i could go, i have not seen all you guys together since the late 80`s. I think the last time i saw you skate was at kona in 91. Too bad they wont let gator out for the weekend, that would be cool, hows he doing anyway?

as for the deck auction, you'd get a better return if you placed it on Ebay (where there's more oldschool skaters looking for that deck), then send the funds/proceeds to the Hamb Andy build afterwards...just me 2cents

My brother and I had Tunnel 10"wide decks with Tracker trucks & YO-Yo wheels. Guys like CAB made us stick with BMX bikes,cuz he IS a ruler!! Great idea with the HAMBandy fund raiser.

damn. I'm in the wrong country.

I & my mates used to make all our decks in the late seventies when we teenagers! We used to just buy the wheels & trucks (Da Kine's) and make our own decks out of plywood and gl*** matt. We used to put a kicker at the back so your foot didnt slip off when doing "wheelstands" downhill. Someones we added nails at the end of the board underneath so when you did wheelstands at night you'd get sparks! ahh, them was the days.

Very cool looking skate show and those finger boards are awesome. 10/10

monzadood- thanks, i don't think these will be available for sale to the m*** market, they are just promo i believe. after this event is over and i have some left, i'll see what i can do for Hambers to obtain one.
thx-138jr and Ed- the legends demo will not be televised , it's just for the crowd ...but now that Hawks gonna skate with us, i could be wrong and they may show a glimpse of him on the ramp.
hotroddaddy- I'm not sure how Gator is still doing, but he's still locked up for the bad/wrong life choice he made, not sure when he'll be getting out of prison as of yet He was a truely amazing skateboarder, when he was on top.
Dave- we'll do another Alices run on our British two wheelers in the near future my friend.
Vance- i'll save a few to make them available to you guys.
1LowLeSabre- did ya get the first hotrod techdeck when the Model A coupe was green w/bronze scallops? ...now that one was hard to find
racer756 I've got mad respect for dem BMX two wheelers that ride halfpipes, they are insane. I just spoke with Matt Hoffman at the last contest and he's doing very we'll. He's in contact with Evel (not Piero) knievel and there's talk/idea of maybe a "legends of extreme sports" tour happening someday in the future, it was Knievels idea.

thanks everyone, this is gonna be a very cool event and may open the door to make it an actual compe***ion event in the years to come ... it's all about just getting your foot in the door and doing the leg work first.

Would love to attend the show, sounds really cool. I'm sure you know my cousin, Bob Burnquist. I sure would like to see him again. We had a family reunion at his home in Vista in 2000 before he built "The Ramp". My kids go nuts whenever they see him on TV.

I heard about this Cab, seems there is a high air contest that will happen with U guys as well. Its so cool to see Lester and Steve S. out there again.(See concrete disciples for a cool interview with Lester) Congrats on the 2nd place at the soulbowl.. have fun at the x-games.. are you coming to the salt this year??
