Does it constitute "Custom" when you bolt on or just lay a line or two on a ride? KKOA members look at the back cover of the Trendfollower. Does this not make you feel just a little pissed? My gang down here in LA (lower Arkansas) have sent several pictures to the KKOA of radicle chopped rides in progress and never have they been acknowleged by the Trendfollower. Not to say that thats what was wanted, it just seems strange to me that a 57 ford chop is less important than a late model with a couple of lines pulled on it. It seems that it is more important to acknowlege these late model rides than to promote a real custom job. I hate rice burner, mini trucks and the like but I would have rather seen a picture of a mini truck with freak'n gulwing doors that, atleast is a "custom". Don't get me wrong I'm a big big fan of pin striping but in of itself does it really constitute a whole new class of custom? Now ask yourself why it was on the back cover.....hmm...maybe cause they are still riding the fence.....maybe so the pics would be color......maybe they didn't have room some where else in the Trendfollower. I understand some of what "the man" was saying about older guys looking for more creature comforts and less work, but I have a friend with a 53 buick who installed 97 infinity seats and built a console and it sits just like a late model (I have a small problem with it but it is comfortable). If you want creature comforts put them in as for me I drive my 53 with no side glass, winshield wipers, AC, heater, seatbelts, power stirring, power brakes, or back brakes even. I drive it cause of how it makes me feel to drive it, I feel 10ft tall and when I'm in my wifes ride I feel nervous and outof place. I can't see these NCC being what the KKOA wants to start promoting. Denison 2003 I could count on one hand how many late model rides I passed encluding the one that came with us from Hope. We were parked next to one and there where 2 more right across from us. I watched most of the day to see how many spectators stopped to look at the rides....I counted about 10 all day. Not to say that there weren't more but at a show that size you gotta look at the numbers. People go to these shows to see the Mercs and Fords and Chevys from the years gone by chopped, nosed, decked, shaved, lowered, and pancaked. Not to see the same ol thing they see everyday. Those of us who bring rides to the shows are looking to hang with Kats and Kittens that share the same passion, dare I say it ...."Antiques Customs". I could be wrong and usually I am but thats my story and I'm roll'n on. Jester
Well, I noticed that too. Seems****us is just trying to alienate people. Not to say that YOU are not a safe driver but when that road plug mini-van full of kids pulls out in front of you, it might be nice to be ABLE to stop.
Very true Rash and I have every intension of installing the back brakes in the comming weeks. I'm only waiting for a couple more parts to arive so that I can start on it.
Wasn't trying to lecture you, just had some real close calls and decided brakes are not the place to screw around. Back to the original topic, I read that thing again in the "library" this morning and I just don't get it. Of course the first one is owned by his wife....
Very interesting post, Jester. Can you describe exactly what kind of car is pictured and how it's done or post a pic. I would like to weigh in a little. Again, a very interesting subject. Joel

It's a Chrysler 300M (there are two cars) or something like that... Kinda thought the same thing as Jester. The cars even roll on factory wheels, and aren't lowered....Cheesy I think, but then again I must not be much of a NEW Custom guy. The cars kinda remind me of RICERS for the older set that can afford the big cars and luxo-barge ride.... The newer ('97?)Caddy that is turned into an "el Camino" is has more Custom touches than either of the two pictured...I had to chuckle, cause it just sounded like some Kat-Daddy-O tryin' to coin a new RatCustomStreetRod moniker into the already STUPID mix of car descriptions...My 2 cents...
You guys are a bunch of young/old reactionaries. If ya don't like it, start your own national traditional customs organization.
Titus's wifes car has pinstriped flames down the side, bullets in the center of the stock wheels and pinstriping on the windows and Wal-Mart mailbox letters that say "TiTuS". The other had another trick or two but still no custom. I'm at work right now and don't have it in front of me.
Not trying to be***** about it just wanted some feed back from others. I know I****** alot but thats how I start the creative juices flowing. I brain storm a bit and then throw it out to the rest of you for feed back. I'm not looking for everyone to say "yeah man your right" I'm just interested in what you Kats and Kittens might think.
I saw it to. Its not the first time he has mentioned it in his rag. I think he just wanted to sneak a pic of his wifes car in there. I owne a 300m if you ask me its best left alone. I would rather spend my money and time on a mini truck...no seriously
Sorry I can't understand Weez's kustom komments to have an opinion. I've always had a problem trying to figure out where he was going with anything, it was an improvement when RF took over Custom Rodder. I read****us article of the New Concept Customs and it didn't light a fire under my pants to go out and buy a new car to cut up. My passion is the traditional Kustoms and Hot Rods. I believe the traditional stuff is alive a well. Look at Lonestar Round up, Viva Las Vegas and many more show that are popping up to take care of this need. I've had a good discussion with Jerry concerning this issue. All I can say is we don't see eye to eye with this subject. Am I wrong? yes, kinda,Some what, because I have this habit only looking at cars that interrest me and I know what I like. I've been told that "I need to look outside of the box sometime to see what every one else is doing." I agree but I believe that my box is real Kool. If you disagree send Jerry and Email and let him know what you think. His website www.kustomkempsofamerica.com The next couple of post is the article that Jester is talking about. AAAUUGGHHH the Stray Kat 500 is only 19 days away!!!!!!!! Happy Trails, Mick
