OT:late 318 parts swap

I'm rebuilding a '95 318;can I use the older gear type oil pump in place of the POS ford style elliptical? Most late 318's usually lose the bottom end due to poor maintenance and pump failure.

 

mopar LA motor never used a gear type pump. As a mater of fact I think all chrysler V8 engines used rotor style pumps, starting with the hemis and polys of the fiftys.

 

My 85 318 just turned 390K, only time Ive had the pan down was when it rotted out.
My 83 360 van has 170K
