To be honest, that's a helluva lot of work. That old "form vs function" mantra. Just can't see rolling up to the tavern on that, but then I probably can't afford the front wheel on that thing.

1997 Softail with aftermarket engine I built many moons ago. It was fast and loud.

  15. Well, almost a month after the stent was pulled (on my birthday no less!) and other “fun” things subsequently that happened, I’m still dealing with pain from that and other “tubing” that was installed,,in fact for almost a week I was housebound. But, I did get this much done to the bike yesterday. One step at a time! Later this weekend the gas tanks go on.

I always use the front fender on the rear, but I put the flared side to the rear.

I understand. Pressing the like ****on is not mandatory. As a general rule I post what I like, whether it be form or function. Sometimes I do wander off of plumb and post something that is completely useless just for ****s and giggles.

I found some pictures of how I mount my rear fenders; front fenders mounted with the flare to the rear. Excuse the dirty picture, it was taken after an earthquake.

I've thought that those huge front tyres might have a usefulness outside a motorcycle context. I can't quite imagine what, though. They're up to about 39" tall.

Biggest are 140/40-34, which works out to 975.6mm, or 38.4" by about 5½" wide. Going by my ****ysis of pre-c.1934 high-end proportions, that suggests a wheelbase of 154". Combine that on the front with, say, 40x15.5R20 off-road tyres on the back, with tread shaved down to street-ish levels? I'm seeing something in an early-'20s idiom, with huge spun-aluminium wheel discs; something like this 1923 Dagmar:

only longer and lower, with the rakishness cranked up even further.

Apologies for the tangent. As you were.

A buddy gave me a quote that I need to remember as well..."Be a man, ride a pan". :D I think I need to design a cool decal for that saying...I haven't found any I like yet, but seems like a good saying.
