You sound like a good son-in-law and an honorable man. It's so true in life that the little things that irritate us (I would have been irritated too) can turn out to be long-term blessings. I'm sure Pop was grateful to you for as long as he lived for fixing his mistake. Your wife is no-doubt also well aware of your sacrifice of time and work and I'm sure you got elevated a few notches in her eyes as well. It's a safe bet that Pop told his friends and the rest of the family about this too. Sometimes a little kindness/forgiveness can go a long way. God Bless.
Well I grew up with out a dad gone at age 6 and drunk mom so I learned to get by, and listen too who ever I could,met a lot of older guys that were more that willin to share what they knew as long as you would listen I lost my dad 52 yrs ago and I still remember him trying to show me stuff like when I needed to shine shoes for dough he made me a box .......treasure them while there here no matter what when there gone there gone I miss my pops every day!
