  1. Gasser Todd, great to here that you and other kiwi hambers in Christchurch are safe. This one is real bad. We've been watching the rescue effort in shock,so much devistation of a beautifull city, and so many trapped people.Hoping that tomorrow will bring some miracles.Thinking of you guys.

  2. We are ok, my thanks go out to our Australian brothers and USA friends who have immediately come to our nations aid with offers of help to our city in need.

Good to hear a few of you locals on and doing o.k. and hope the rest of the greater HAMB and rodding family down there are all good, the damage looks much worse then Sept, my neice is down there and all o.k. but by the sounds and sights a huge ammount of the central city and infrstructure must be shagged, I'm guessing Lyttleton and the port there will be a big buggered too although there is no word on the news.... good luck to you all down there always loved Christchurch and there are some of the greatest Kiwi's down there too...... feeling like we are sitting on our hands up here unable to help. Hopefully overnight and the morning bring more good news then bad.

Had the headphones on during the news last night so this is the first I've heard of it. Wishing all the people of New Zealand the best. Be careful over there Doc.

  6. Great to see the Christchurch Hambers loging in and safe.
While ive still got a few friends im waiting to hear from, my thoughts have turned to those who are trapped, waiting to be rescued.

  7. Sadly I think that is going to be the case Steve, many people who are trapped and injured won't make it through the night. A very very sad day for our little country.

Don't forget the offer of a bed / caravan here if you and Michelle just want out for a while eh .
That goes for the rest of the ChCh crew too .

    .

  8. Sorry to hear about the quake.

Heard about it on the HAMB first.

The center of the earth is cooling and shrinking. They call it plate tectonics. Global cooling is the cause. Global warming would stop earth quakes.

Please, let's not turn this into a political debate, but...

A more accurate scientific explination might be found here:
    http://www.livescience.com/12927-major-solar-storm-earth-risks.html

Not that the article touches on the effects that solar flares and CME's have on the earth's core, but there is mounting evidence that there is infact a connection.

Thanks LIFESTYLZ and kiwipackard,it's a relief to know they're probably o.k.I've e-mailed them, just waiting for the reply.
Our thoughts are with those that aren't so lucky.

    Good on yer,Doc Watson!

  11. When I was in high school global cooling was the big topic. They said the north pole was going to grow and cause the earth to tilt and the north pole would be on the equator.

I have no intention of making this a political debate. I stated the cause of the quakes and a simple explanation.

  12. I just tuned in and heard about this tragic event, prayers to all of you down there.

Well guys, looks like I wont be making that trip after all. Even know I am a part off 'Queensland Health' I am not attached to a specific entity that is deploying so I guess I'm just 'extraneous'.
StJohn Australia is not a part of this either.
Probably better luck for our Kiwi counterparts not to have me over there, I'm not all that good at what I do!!:D

Good luck to all involved and the people on there way over there.
    Keep strong.

    Doc.

The news here is not all that comprehensive, but it sure looks grim. Keep you chins up. All the best, Gary.

Thoughts are with the people of Christchurch and the Hot Rodding community. It is great to hear that so many have survived. The scenes on TV are devastating and this is indeed a very dark time for our little nation. There are so many heroes on TV - everyday people who've just got in and helped out. I admire each and everyone them so much.

There is an offer of a bed here if anyone affected wants a break at the Beach.

    Yours in Rodding,

    Noddy

  23. Good on yer Noddy And 46ford,

A cousin's family is in Christchurch. His wife posted on Facebook that they're all OK, But there's lots of folks that are not. My heart goes out to them......

Our thoughts and prayers are with all who are in this mess. This looks like a real bad one from what images I've seen.

Thanks very much Rod , to be honest we may even think of moving out of CHCH.The nerves are still shot after September's event. This is going to have a huge impact on the future of the Garden City.
The thing is , are we going to get another one next week ,month, year, decade ???.
I duno if im prepared to take the risk.
You want to see the stream of traffic heading south ! you would think its a long weeken.People have had enough. Its not like NZ is some 3rd world country , our building codes are some of the best around.
    Thanks again Rod.

    Steve

  30. Not good news but reality.
Fatality toll has reached 75 and climbing.
Many hundreds injured and at least 300 still missing and numbers rising.
