on a recent trip to cape Canaveral i talked to the tour guide and learned they still use hydrazine to guide the capsules its the little burst you see come out of the top it is also why after picking the capsule out of the ocean they let it sit on the deck of the ship for about 15 minutes to let any fumes dissipate before letting the occupants come out also an interesting film from periscope films shows clean up procedures the air force uses if an f16 spills any hydrazine ( small tank for emergency control surface operation?)
Hydrazine can be purchased I think in 1oz or so bottle @ least a few yrs ago . @ one time all those sticks where $$$ Even for a low budget racer . New owner of IHRA is spending $ across board , Big things are happening. It cost on average 7- 10k aday 12 hrs for local 1/8 mile track to run , Fuel prices have caused a lot of this starting in 2000 , when they changed the formula to 10-15 % ethanol if you knew before how gas was made , Diesel was always plus or minus 5 cents of gas price per gal . Until they get diesel fuel under control prices are going stay high most all things are delivered by Diesel not gasoline! & Battery $__t is not going to work
