It's funny your vet's name was Slaughter, Gracie. In my grandmother's town in Oklahoma, there was a vet named Dr. Coffin..... Is this some kind of sick vet school joke or something?

All of the animals I've ever had (except the horses) were rescues from the shelter. Macy being the only canine exception - she showed up the day after the Hot Rod Rumble last July. She was dumped out in our area we're assuming, no one ever looked for her that we're aware of. She'd been badly abused by her prior owners, and garbage bags make her go running. I can only imagine why she's so scared [IMG] Sudden movements, loud noises...they all freak her out. Whereas Nitro, who we got from the pound at 7 weeks old, would let an elephant sit on him if I told him it was ok. Best damn dog I've ever had. I dread the day he passes on. He's gonna be 3 this year, and so is Macy, and I hope to have them for many years to come [IMG]

A-MEN. I wish more people would understand that. My neighbor had a pitbull/rot mix that was the biggest pussycat in the world... at 145 pounds. I miss having a pal around. We had to put our black lab down a couple of years ago. Its weird, growing up with a dog, then finding yourself without.

I'm in for airfare money, also!

Foiled's dog Vito might not be mean but he owes me $185 for chewing up my Borsalino, he has shown no intention of paying. Once a week I take a cupful of his dog food and give it to my yard cats, but I don't think it's fair that Foiled ends up payin off his dogs debt.
    Another moral dillema

Done talked to "Notorious D.O.G." and he informed me he would be up for donating $50 or so to make sure that dog gets shipped to his new home if need be... A pitbull with a heart...

This is the kind of post that really gets to my wife and I. We have 2 Shih Tzu's that get treated better than our kids did when they were at home. There if no replacing the unconditional love that's given by a pet. I don't understand anyone mistreating and animal as I was raised on a farm and animals were a REAL part of my life.
I'm in for transportation funds if the little guy can be shipped to a loving home.

    I know what you mean....
what really pisses me off is, my wife and i stop into the local Petsmart every other week to pick up cat supplies for our "better than a kid" cat and we always stop by and see the cats up for adoption....

    here's my rant...
They always have these tags on the glass telling a little about the cats... age, background and such...
When I see one that says "4 year old tabby, great with kids, wonderful friend, litterbox trained... and so on, but further on down it says....
Owner moved into a new house and didn't want cat anymore...."

    I mean WHAT THE FU_K?
How in the hell can you get attached to a pet for 4 minutes... let alone 4 FUC_ING years and then decide.. "oh, well... goodbye fluffy..... see you later pal"

I see this all the time!!!!!
I will never understand these people...
they should be taken out in a field and shot for being the scum that they are! (the previous owner.. not the cat silly)!!!
    whew.. sorry....

Count me in for help with transportation funds. Every time I see a thread such as this, I can only think about my two best pals, Fred and Norton. Both are gone now and I'm bawling like a baby just thinking about these two guys. They were the absolute best and most devoted friends that ever existed. They only required a little love (well, I actually gave them a lot) and in turn gave back so much happiness. Right now, my wife and I are in the throes of trying to pick a "retirement" location and travel considerably, so we don't think it wise to adopt another pet. But, as soon as we get out of this mode, you can bet we WILL have another, maybe two. Last, I agree that anyone that mistreats animals is some kind of sick sick bastard. A pox on them all.

Thanks for all the replies. I really can't take any money though. I would rather do the handoff thing. This dog loves to ride in the car so that's not a problem. If I can just get the relay organized, that would be sufficient.

Now, since she has been staying with me I think I figured out what the problem may have been. She HAS to sleep inside.
I put her out back yesterday with my 2 and she would bark at my bedroom window until I paid attention to her. It's no big deal. She slept in the garage and was cool with that. She just doesn't want to be an outside dog totally. I just want all to know about the little quirks before taking her on.All this said, she is still a sweetheart. It would be easier for me to hand off to Rashy since he is only 1.5 hours away because I am moving in 2 weeks but.......if Bill's wife wants her....we'll get her there.

    Thanks again.

<font color="green">I talked to MAMA RASH about her and we agreed that we would take her IF no one else can, doesn't sound like that is the case.

Our concerns are that we are about to move and will have enough trouble showing the house we are in with VIXXXEN to deal with and then watching two at the new place with an acre of yard would be tough. Can't have them getting out.

Also, VIXXXEN has been an only pup her whole life and DOES NOT like other dogs near here house or yard. So, we are afraid to take her only to have to find her another home if they don't get along.

All that said, sounds like she's gonna be a New Mexican.

Now, how to get her there.

You going to Dewy ROOt, or is that the weekend you are moving?

If you are moving that weekend, Flat-Top could get her on the way to Dewey, we could bring a crate for her in the hotel room (don't freak) MAMA RASH would see to it that she was out except for when we are asleep. Hell, Dewey would break the HAMBpup (TM) in right!!

Then, Flat-Top brings her to Wellington and MercBill figures it from there.

    Other ideas? </font>

I leave for Dallas that Sunday. If Bob could pick her up, that would be alright by me. I have a crate if Bob doesn't want her in his lap the whole way. Mam Rash could take care of her for the weekend, then Bob could cart her back to Wellington. Hey is Radshit, going to Dewey? That would solve everything!!!

That's right! I deal with this daily as an Animal Control officer, NOT a "Dog Catcher" or "Animal Killer" as some like to call me. I can't believe the way people treat their animals. The things I've seen... People are always amazed when I inform them their dogs can't run at Large in traffic. And they need to be fed, have water and shelter. I love animals, but really hate most of their owners. Here's my latest addition to the family. A Pug Mix named Lily Munster... [IMG]

<font color="green">I don't think RAD is going to make Dewey, doesn't sound like you are either, ROOT.

    Bummer.

The only other thing we need to check is that the hotel will allow her to stay but after what we did to that place last year, a dog is the least of their worries.

We'll get it figured out, one way or another.

Another possible problem will be getting MAMA to turn her loose after spending the weekend with her. [IMG] </font>

    <font color="green">SHEEEEEEEIT MANG!!!!

You KNOW you are welcome to cruise around with MAMA and I.

    We'll have both cars there.

Are you game for hauling H.A.R.T. (Hokey Ass Rat Terrier) back with you?

We'll make sure she is in some sort of crate and find a collar and leash so she can do her bidness on the side of the road....in TEXAS. [IMG]

    <font color="green">Oh yeah,

We'll bring food for her as well.

Maybe you and Flt-Blk can split this spare room we will most likely have.

My good buddy Phil, FTF on the HAMB, is moving to a house with a shop also, so he most likely won't make Dewey.

Also, you can take a ride on the seat that this way cool dude from Albuquerque gave me, you may recognize it, well probably not...

I dig it, thanks again man.

Last December someone dumped a little dog (mixed breed I think) in front of our house. There were no tags or collar. We put an add in the paper and put up flyers at local convienance stores with no replys. After about a week we figured out she was pregnant. Anyway on New Years eve she had five puppies. We found good homes for four puppies and decided to keep one puppy along with the mother. They join the healer/ border collie mix we have. We figured that the previous owners knew she was expecting and didn't want anything to do with her. When we first got her she didn't like men, figure a man must have mis treated her. She has been good with women and children. She is now fairly good around men. I never thought we would have more than 1 dog, but couldn't bear to think what would happen with a pregnant dog at the pound.

I'm in for a couple bucks to help with transport if needed. Then I'm willing to add a couple more to pay for someone to go over to that prick's house that dumped her and crack his head open. Stupid son of a bitch deserves to be drove out somewhere like the middle of a desert and get his sorry ass dropped off. See how he likes it!

I very rarely post around here...do a lot of lurking, though, and I gotta say: This kind of thread makes me glad I found the HAMB. Sure, it's got nothing to do with hot rods and such, but it's a stellar example of the quality of folks that make up the majority of this board.

Y'all should be proud of yourselves, ya done good by this little pooch!
