Ha, caught ya. Now get off the H.A.M.B. and get to work! I want those stories turned in ON TIME! (Gosh, I love bein' da boss.)
Welcome Riz. R & C is one of two or three that I try and get every ish. Our convenience store here though changed hands and I can't seem to find the current one. Might have to subscribe....
Not complete project buildups but some short tech stuff, Z'n a frame, installing door glass in a coupe, fillin' a roof -- thst kinda stuff.
[ QUOTE ] Now, quit bustin our balls and gimme somethin' to work with. [/ QUOTE ] You better not make fun of the body work on your RPU!!!!
Dont let that Jim Aust guy ruin that mag... He's a pompous ass ya know?!?!! uhhh wait... Thats Fortier.
Ratso. I have a great project for you to check out. My '53 Plymouth Suburban!!! Ya. How many have ya seen around and let alone in a magazine, if any, has there been a spread on? That's what I thought! I have a many great ideas but so little money$$$$. I already had an artist buddy of mine whip up on paper how it is going to look. How do you go about having a so called donor project that you may be interested in doing? Let me know. KNUX.
I stopped all of my subsriptions when the post office kept fuckin them up in the delivery. I just spend the xtra something at the newsstand and I hand pick it in prestine condition. Sounds like I'm buying a fuckin car or something nice, eh?
Hey Riz - Been gettin' your mag for a while. Great mag. I was gettin' Street Rodder but they have too much high zoot stuff. That's why I like R & C. They have a good mix of stuff. Alot of owner built and more importantly driven rods. Would like to see an article on z'in a frame. Differant approaches and reasons behind them. Again great mag.
I don't subscribe to many magazines. Never have. Its always been "pick and choose" at the news stand. Every now and then I get a Hot Rod sub from a well-wishing family member. Hey, they try.. But now I may actually subscribe to R&C thanks to the crew they have. Spike
RIZ, what ever happened to that F1 buildup you did in a magazine awhile back? I never saw the completion of that truck. Do you still have it? Any pics? Folks on here a real soft on F1 trucks, pics always welcomed. Sorry for the Hijack- I loved the newest issue of R&C. I just got it last night. Good stuff on shoebox Chevys and your RPU buildup. R&C is definitely on the upswing lately.
[ QUOTE ] Riz is just getting some ink with his own personal Roadster Pickup that he built totally by himself and it won't be long before my '28 Tudor is added to the mix. [/ QUOTE ] Wow! Hardcore. Getting a tattoo of his car as well as yours! Welcome Riz. Love the mag too. Problem is the damn thing takes so long to get down here to Australia that I've already seen it all on the HAMB!
I got a question now that all you magazine guys are here. I've been thinking of doing a few stories to submit. I want to do pics for them, prefer to stay digital if I can. Any recommendations on cameras or at least how many megapixle I need to have for magazine quality....
Welcome Ratso...Is that to say JimA is now working for R&C?????? He'll probaly be pretty good at that[seriously]. I myself cannot comment of R&C's state of Health as I have really not been reading any magazines for a few years. I think that if magazines hear what their readers are asking for ,then the folks in charge of the pursestrings, should realize that the ads are really not as important as the end result- the PURCHASERS of the magazine. Yes its an admirable goal to sit in the directors boardroom and tell your comrades that the magazine has 57 percent or whatever ad pages [and less than half pages containing fodder [that the reader desires]... That is a situation that can only slowly erode the numbers of dedicated readers/buyers..... I think there are many who probably feel that same way. A, 1/3 ads to 2/3 hardcore Rod Material ratio is EXPECTED,before they lay down that hard earned to buy the Mag, [no wonder they feel like the mistakenly bought a CATALOG!]. ALSO- I think ad price restructuring is in order too as most companies that can afford a full page are luckily- already major players in the industry therefore setting an unachievable price per ad that a start-up or existing small bussiness simply could not justify.

[/ QUOTE ] Hey Ratso, check out SamIyam's A-V8 build posts in the tech o'matic for a kick ass Z job. Quality work. Upchuck, I just got back on R&C 5 or 6 months ago and it is definitely worth a subscription - I got mine for like 12 bucks. Maybe these guys can hook you up with a HAMB discount
Hey Riz, Welcome to da HAMB We met last year at GG's columbus when you picked my buddies "Lucifer", and shot pics of my other buddies Gold/orange 61 Buick. Missed ya this year. anyway, Welcome
well I gotta say I got a bit more than I had bargained for with this thread! welcome to the daylight HAMB Ratso! so HAMBers get a subscription discount???
so all that Rocket stuff is just rusting away at the machine shop? i'd be kicking down the door looking for my stuff...
[ QUOTE ] Okay guys here's my intro and my reply to yorgatron. This is RIZ from R&C and I've been lookin over yer shoulders for years now. Figured it was about time to join in, since I know a good number of ya already. [/ QUOTE ] Welcome to the HAMB I decided a while back I wasnt gonna continue my subscription. The last issue made me change my mind. You actually had an article on making parts!! I have been saying Its quicker to make a part than it is to order one and wait for it to come in.
Welcome out of the closet. So do we get a sneak peek at the finished Budget Beater? Hate to sound like a kiss-ass, but I just finished the latest issue and was really digging it. Carry on. ~ Rob
I've been subscribing to R&C for years. I just don't understand the flap about content. When you get a subscription when they are on special the cost is less than a buck an issue. that and the fact it's delivered to your door and you don't have to take a chance on the news stand being out of it. If you get an issue that doesn't live up to your standards just give it to some young kid, it might inspire him to get into rods or customs. You can always throw it away, you did piss that last beer down the drain didn't you? Frank
Here it is. That is if I can get the image to load. Nope, ain't gonna work way too many bytes. Oh well, e-mail me at jim.rizzo@primedia.com and I'll send ya back an image or two. P.S. Thanks to all for your warm welcome. Too bad I don't have more time to hang out. Too busy at work, and all I have at home is dial-up that's way too slow to bother with. You're all welcome to contact me via e-mail though. Take it easy, and wish me luck -- me and the beater hit the road for the Nats on Friday morning! See ya in Louisville!
"the folks in charge of the pursestrings, should realize that the ads are really not as important as the end result- the PURCHASERS of the magazine." Guess you don't understand how a corporate publishing company operates, or, for that matter, how one of its publications survives. Readers alone don't make for fat pockets.
Second that. I like what CK Deluxe and Old School Rods are about and I'll continue to buy their stuff over other pub.'s cuz' that's what I like...but I also like magazines that are well proofed and well put together. Not some hokey piece of monkey brown. Don't think you can have both? Garage is a good example of a nice combo. of the two. Yeah, it might be a little light on content every now and then...but it's good.
