I can e-mail you an image or two of the F-1 if you want.Drop me a line at work. jim.rizzo@primedia.com
Hey Jim, welcome aboard. I figured you must be lurkin out there somewhere, glad to see you on the inside. I've been a fan of R&C for years, but I think it definetly took a turn for better when you took the helm. Thanks for sharing your rpu photos with us. I'm building one too, so I've been following the article (won't post shameless photos of my car like Rudy tho' ) You ought to consider flying Yorgatron south to pay a visit to your machinist...
[ QUOTE ] (won't post shameless photos of my car like Rudy tho' ) ... [/ QUOTE ] Damn, my first attempt at shameless self promotion and I get busted
I have been getting both R& C and Custom Rodder since my wife got them for me as an X mas gift & I would say that both RF and Riz have been doing a killer job. just enough nicely done "traditional" cars without too many Ol School Rat Rods leaking there way into the pages... I am guessing in the future when you look back on these books they wont seem hokey like a few others on the newstand today. & Riz keep on putting a bike or two in there as well...
it sure turned out nice. Skippy boy moved away and we have nowhere to hang out now. He was like the glue holding the O.C. crowd together. his weekly parties always ended up a drunken mess with guys burning out on his front lawn and Harleys driving the neighbors fucking nuts. Note to self: dont buy a house within 1 block of the Shifter clubhouse. I miss you skippy boy.
I must also say that your mag keeps me busy for about an hour every month. I just recently decided to come out of the shadows too after like 3 years of not posting. I'm suprised to see that '29 roadster for sale so quick.... http://adcache.collectorcartraderonline.com/10/1/2/74126412.htm
I have a subsciprtion to R/C and let my Custom Rodder lapse so that I could use the money to sponsor Mary Kate Olsen for a dollar a day. I, in fact, was just parked on the can taking the new issue and putting the ad pages to good use. Brandons' Chevy on the cover is awesome and I'm not even a huge fan of tri-fives cause there are so many but that car is really unique and very cool. I actually even like the ads so I know where to buy stuff and what is new or handy. Besides, you gotta have em. The tech articles are good, the Young Guns (and yesterdays) is very cool, and the budget beater is great despite no doubt getting your balls busted from readers who think you get everything for free cause you work for a mag. As for Bon Jovi, or James Hetfield, or Jimmy Vaughn making the mags, that is cool too. Can't hate a car guy for being famous for something else. Keep up the good work.
Ive been getting Rod and Custom since ive been hardcore into hot rods (6 years! Im 17 ) and i love it. One thing i would like to see is the "Young Guns" go back to a full page. Welcome to the HAMB RATSO, post often let us get to know you better. Maybe Ill get to meet you in Louisville. O ya, youd better put Rudys 40 in R&C soon, since i may not ever get to see it in person at least ill get to see it in print! I guess thats enough brown nosing for now. Later, Nick
It's been on the rack almost a week and a half and still haven't recieved my subscription copy....and this isn't the first time! Stuff like that pisses me off, I go to the store and see the issue and want to look at it but have to restrain myself because I know I'll then get mine the next day and will have seen what I wanted so my copy goes straight to the garbage!!!!!
RPU looks good, the rest of you are fags. I buy all my magazines from the newsstand to help our economy (subs are always twoweeks after the newstand gets em anyway) Quit bitching about the mags or publish yer own!(Unless it has a Playskoolgayassname)
Hey Sam! Thanks, I'd love to race. Once I get back from my trip to Luisville (I leave Fri at 6am)a few more things should have broken/fallen off so it'll be a bit lighter - giving me a bit of a weight advantage! I have to admit though, I don't drive as fast as I used ta . . . Ever since my ride with you I figure I used up a lot of my luck. I'm not sure how many times a person is allowed to see their life flash before their eyes before it's really over. . . But I did have a ball! Hope to see ya soon.
Rudy, just name the time and place and your car will be in R&C. I would have thought they would have all knocked down your door by now- but then thinking it over again I can't think of any "other guys" who would get it like we do.
Only the guys from the Rodders Journal have been bugging me but I tod them you would have to write the artical . Hey I can dream can't I. CAll me...
Hi Jim, good to see you finally outta lurker statis. I'll stop by the booth next week and say hi. If your out and about checking out the rides feel free to stop by the HAMB/RRT encampment along the split rail fence to the east of the exhibit building. We'll have plenty of dogs/burgers and cold beverages.... and cookies of course. In fact, for you and JimA a whole bunch of cookies all to yourselves cuz it seems like you two just convinced Roadstar he needs to attend the Nats, something I have failed to do this past month. I owe you.
Welcome aboard. I have been reading RC off and on now for about 10 years. Some good, some bad. I take it in stride and understand that not all issues can be everything to everyone. I always try to pull some knowledge out, I never know when I'll need it. Anyway, I see that some editors/staff of these mags have their hands tied. Primedia owns 44 auto mags, 9 cycle mags and 32 special interest mags. They are the ones dictating things. My only bitch is along the lines of echoing choprods: [ QUOTE ] ALSO- I think ad price restructuring is in order too as most companies that can afford a full page are luckily- already major players in the industry therefore setting an unachievable price per ad that a start-up or existing small bussiness simply could not justify. [/ QUOTE ] I got a media kit from Primedia and I was floored at the prices. As long as the Summit's of the world are spending 150K/month in ads, us little guys dont stand a chance. Ok, I'm done complaining.(this is why these guys just lurk, once they are outed everyone pipes in with critisism)
[/ QUOTE ] this is why these guys just lurk, once they are outed everyone pipes in with critisism) [/ QUOTE ] This is why "who" just lurks? I've been in Mr. Cochran's Neighborhood for quite some time now, longer than most. The ongoing magazine debate BS is gay, whether it's about little crap mags, indies, or the corporates. If none of them were around anymore, there'd be increased bitching about TV shows or other Web sites. If you don't like a magazine, why not put your effort into making sites like this more informative for the traditionalist instead of constantly complaining? Oh, and here's a tip for the little guy: Not every single piece of editorial you read is advertiser driven. If a little guy has a decent product, contact an editorial person and offer up a tech story. That's advertising like you couldn't imagine. If your product is as good as you think it is, your phone's gonna start ringing. If not, what did you lose?
