I'm in KC. Man, I bought a vintage , early 70s snow blower this summer for $5. It was CLEAN. I got it running during that warm spell and got all bundled up to use it, but after all that time making sure it ran, I couldn't get it to start when it mattered! Oh well, even if I got the snow off of the gravel driveway there's still a few inches of ice under there... and I need all the traction I can get. ~Jason
I'm upa round saratoga...heavy winds and rain right now...been in a tee shirt till today...actually, today too...haha...time to put the snow tires on the truck, and weigh her down a bit..and to think I just got rid of my lifted ranger for a two wheel drive ranger.....haha..I can't wait for the snow to fly...until it gets here, then I'll want spring on a side note...does anyone else really not believe its dec already...
Snow, what's that? Think I'll go surfing tomorrow morning. We have a 3-5 foot west swell and it should be a sunny day.
snow, stuck, cant get to work???? hell gramma gets thru this little bit in her taurus learn how to drive.... better yet stay home until spring its putz's like you that make the headlines cuz" they were not ready for snow" booo frickein hoo enjoy your lower priced property now?
It was 70 here on Tuesday. Wednesday it was 18. We got virtually no precipitation up here on the up side. I'm ready for spring. Mootz
My tractor is a Ferguson TO 20. Basically a Ford 9N. It's just a big lawn mower. No chains, or weights on the tires. My neighbor came over tonight in is big enclosed 4wd tractor to clear the driveway and got stuck, had to be pulled out with a bigger tractor. Oh, Paperdog, FUCK YOU. Dean
It has been nice out here on the east coast this past week. I too had my coupe out to meet some buddies for lunch. It was 70 degrees this morning but that cold front finally came through and now temps are more seasonable (44 degrees right now). I did take the opportunity to put my snow blower on my little tractor though. I can't imagine living up there in the "lake effect snow" area, I'd be at the end of a rope before spring ever got here! If I had my druthers, I'druther be somewhere warmer, but I guess most of us tend to stay close to where we were born. So we deal with the weather or move the fuck somewhere else. So I guess I'll piss n moan for the next few months until spring returns. At least I got my nice new garage to play in until then......
Sounds as though your neighbor needs lessons if he's getting a 4wd tractor stuck in a little snow. Have your rear tires loaded with chlorine (I think they still do that, but I've been off the farm 20 yrs) then get a set of chains. It'll make such a difference you'll think you're driving a different tractor. The loaded tires will make a big difference in traction year round
It's normally my daily! But my Willys Wagon (snow daily) is down right now (just got my tank back), so as long as it's not icy on my steep, twisty, mountain road down to Rt66, the '40 gets driven (no heater either!). It's only outside because it won't fit in my garage right now (just moved & garage is "holding area" for everything we don't know where to put yet!)! ...and I'm picking up another car today... less room in the garage
I always here in Texas it was 80 and sunny the day before, then 28 degress with freezing rain and snow, then the next back to 60 and sunny
Im from Millersburg (read Fulton/Columbia? originally. My family is there still. Dad calls me from Costa Rica laughing about the snow, and saying how glad he is to not be there. South FLorida is HOT right now
dean, yeah, i'm still snowed in. i figure about another half hour of shovelling and i'll be able to get out. i got a call last night from weeds and he's snowed in, too. also trailer ed's wife called yesterday and they're still snowed in. and whoever from up north that made the comment about grannie gettin' around in her taurus: there ain't no taurus (or any other normal car) gonna get around in 18 inches of unplowed snow. i don't care how much snow you are used to.
here in moab we got about 6 inches and i drove just fine in the old dodge. some of the local transplants with thier rockcrawlers couldn't seem to get around. oh well. about three years ago i was in laramie wyo. with my dodge and was getting around better in the snow with out chains then some were with chains. guess it is all knowing how to drive. now i just wished the heater worked better.
just got shovelled out about an hour ago and went for a drive. i had about 150 - 175 feet of 16" deep snow to shovel by hand to get out. think i'll go to town for supper to celebrate.
sorry that the weather gets you transplants down i was only funnin ya oh ya lift with your legs and save your back sno placement is an artform when its this deep think ahead before scooping against the wind.. yes gramma drives a taurus and of coarse we pay extra for streets to be plowed at this time of year.. and we have salt eating our cars yearround its why we go south to buy old cars we have nothing but rusty stuff keep warm and hope no one gets hurt! paperdog
Still no snow in Ventura, took a nice bike ride down to the beach this morning on my old JC Higgins. .......
BRRR, snow is a 4 letter word. My wife and I always say why do people live up north when we see snow storms on TV, we havn't seen a flake of snow since moving to SE Alabama 3 years ago from NE Indiana, don't miss it. Supposed to get down to 23 over night on Monday, and high of only 54, it was nice today in the sun at the car show in my t-shirt.
That can't be the same Missouri I know. Everytime I go there it is a garden of Eden, beautiful lush green grass and green trees. But maybe that is just Kansas City & North up to St. Joe...
Mr. KK.......its official........I hate you. I don't even know you but I hate you. I've been looking at all the cool pictures you've been posting in and around your area and it looks like paradise. I especially like your bitchin' garage that I saw in another post. Winter is slowly sneaking up on us here on the east coast and I will soon laps into my winter coma because everything becomes cold and gray and dead! Oh well, at least I can look at how you guys live out there in sunny California as I wait for spring to return. Also this winter I will get a little repreave from the cold as I will be coming out to California in January to check out the Grand National Roadster show...............
Hey, don't be a hater. You know we get cold weather out here too. In fact today I had to step up to a long sleeve T shirt. Took my rpu down to the Ventura fairgrounds to check out a little race car swap meet. Next Saturday I'll go to the Mooneyes Christmas show. about a 1 1/2 hour drive . Then on Sunday I'll go back down to the fairgrounds and check out some cool scooters at the Chopperfest bike show. This is a GREAT place to live! I find though that it's not whether you live in California or not but where in California you live. California has alot of places where I wouldn't choose to live. You wouldn't believe how many people out here talk shit about Cali and can't wait to get out. Can't quite figure those people out myself.
Yeah, on second thought, it does sound like its not what its cracked up to be, forget it, I ain't coming out now ...... Actually I was out there a couple years ago for the Fathers day roadster show. We were like kids in a candy store. We checked out Moon and Jesse James place, Peterson museum, So Cal open house,(saw the Reverend Billy Gibbins hisself in person) Ventura beach, Huntington beach etc. etc. and we even went to check out Floyd Cotterpin's shop just because we could! It was just so neat to cruz down Hwy 101 checking out Laguna beach and Santa Monica pier. It will be fun to come back and do more sight seeing when we are done checking out the roadster show......
