(OT) Stupid Fast-n-Furious neighbors need advice

its the proverbial rotten apple spoiling the barrel for the rest of us thing..crusin' and parkin' Sat.night Austin Tex. is divided between North and South, about 25 miles apart. The northsiders had their thing going in a big box parking lot..all the burn-outs, drifting, dial-up eleven on the stereo, smoke and boom boom, got them kicked out..here on the southside, we been in the same parking lot for years, when northside refugees started showing up and gettin too rowdy we had a little talk with them..one night a rice can and a Viper squared off at the light out in front and didn't see the Shereef a few blocks behind them, when the tire smoke cleared he had them both pulled over, and man, with all the hootin and clappin you'd think UT scored a TD.....

My uncles were police officers and one of many things I learned was don't tell the Police that "if something isn't done ""YOU"" will take matters into your own hands". Instead, tell the Police that if something isn't done ""SOMEONE MIGHT"" take matters into their own hands. Don't say you or someone you know is going to do anything. Same goes for if you go and talk to the parents.

If talking to the parents doesn't work then you're just going to have to flat out tell the parents or the kids "If something happens to one of my kids I will go to jail over beating the living shit out of your kid, or you(the kids)".

Or beat them at their own game. Tell them that you have a friend who'll race them for pink slips. Then call one of your Police buddies and use his cruiser. The kids may be dumb but they aren't stupid enough to race a cop car with a cop in it.

and just remember hit them first..if they think theyr'e gona get hit it's one thing but if they know theyr'e gona get hit again that's a whole different ball game!

 

Are you telling me in Texas you cannot call the police and tell them you want to write a complaint against them for reckless driving and drag racing?

 

I've read a page or two before I responded and like some of the answers. My personal answer response is to have a face to face, "I'm going to kick your ass if..." discussion. (I actually just had one with two kids teasing my shepherd...made me think of it for this).

They will smirk and then you will have to follow through, masked, of course.

I've had excellent success with this technique but I'm 6'4" 260 and ugly as hell. But in all honesty, teens understand and do things only for a couple of reasons...fear, love, acceptance. Which one will you use?

 

I had a dispute with a kid in my neighborhood once back in WA. He pulled up in front of my house and was talking shit to me. I got close enough to the interior of his car that he floored it thinking he'd take my head off. Obviously he didn't, but the dope forgot he was in a cul de sac and had to pass me again. He had his driver side window open and I hawked a loogey through his open window. He came to a screeching halt and started to cuss me until he saw me running towards him. He took off and never returned.

Not the way I should have handled it, but I will not take shit, win, lose, or draw, from some asshole. I'm sorry to say that I am one of those people that lose their sanity when enraged. I really am working on it...

 

A well placed 2 x 4 is always good. If your lucky it will set off the airbag.

believe me id rather say blow up the kids car...i really would...but if you pull the phoney "respect" thing, it will go a LOT farther than playing "the game" which gets nooone anywhere really....as everytime he drives by hes going to say "thats the fucker that called the cops on me" and still keep up with his shit..or worse yet retaliate...and then youy going to have to go to jail for killing the little fucker.

we ALL did some stupid crap when we were kids.....i remember when it was almost illegal to skate...not like it is now...and we'd get driven home by the cops DAILY from our skate spots....1 time a guy at one building actually talked to us kids like adults, and rather than yell like an asshole he talked to us, respected us...and asked us to take is someplace else...you know what. we respected that dude...and went to skate at the church across the street and throwing shit at the priest that used to call the cops on us daily.

 

Guy in my hometown had a sloped driveway and a bowling ball. He was the street's self appointed radar gun. A radar gun that needed calibration. My loud, deep geared cars were frequently deemed "speeders" when in fact they weren't. After dealing with him for a couple years, personally have a hard time advocating throwing shit in front of moving cars. Besides, whatever you throw could hit somebody else's stuff, or cause the dickhead speeder to hit their stuff. No good or easy solutions here. Sorry

As far as those who justify their own stupid behavior as being on "backroads" (my own personal stupidity included)- people still live on backroads, and they still notice stupidity. You're not in a vacuum out there.

Every building around here has there "tags" all over them and looks like shit. I mean it's in your face everywhere you go and I'm sick of it. Anyway, I got an idea for ya. Get some old bowling balls from garage sales, whatever. When the idiot comes hauling down the street, let that baby fly and make sure it stops in front of the car. You'll do better with more balls. Like a basket full. The more balls, the more chaois insues. It'll be hilarious.
Option 2: Get a bag of shit and hang it from a tree with fishing line. When said idiot comes past drop the bag of shit on the hood/windshield. That should be good for some more great laughs.

Well, lotsa luck trying to get a cop to help...there absolutely worthless. You'll never get the same answer from any two cops. I'm as patriotic as the next guy but, when I needed there help..and it was legit..they were worthless.
I'd avoid confronting him unless you can whip his ass but, then you're going to jail andyway and then fines, community service and all that shit. The most important thing you can probably do is get it on film...several times and make sure you zoom in on the tag number and zoom in on the driver. If you don't, your evidence goes to shit.
Well, good luck on getting out of CC...let the yankees have it...AAA bail bonds does a good job.

 

All this "rough & tough, I'll beat your ass talk, etc. sounds good, but it's out dated and will get you in big legal trouble where you become the "criminal" and the riceburner kid wins. Also too many kids today will just shoot you and not blink and eye. I suggest you go to your town hall meeting , get some politicians on your side and have them put pressure on the police to catch these morons in the act.

 

Videotape the incident and then sue them. Use the legal system to your advantage.

 

I can remember doin' shit like this...terrorizing the neighbourhood, laughing like a banshee. I was young, oblivious to reality & danger. All I needed, as a wanabee, was a good talkin to from the man or like suggested by others, a speed bump.....some still might get it but to most it puts a limp in their little dicks....
Word of advice now as a senior....don't do anything in anger.You may be the one with a limp dick.....

 

Look fordy I didn't say what I did was right or advise anyone to do it, I didn't whoop his ass although I am more than able to and was willing to pay the bail if it came to that. I even felt a little remorse for doing it until I realised neither of the cars stopped for a stroller they had hit WTF is that?
Oh and by the way one of the neighbors is a retired policeman and now is on the city council so if he could not get the job done at city hall what the fuck was some middleclass factory worker going to do there. I've moved now so it is all a moot point to me now, but don't get on my case for sharing a story.

 

get them on video!!! theymake small video cameras that you can hide so you don't actually have to be out there withthe camera 24-7 waiting for them to fuck up. drill a hole in your mail box and hide it in there aimed in such a way that you get their plate number on video. i'm pretty sure that you can have these little cameras transmit to your computer or some other type or recording device. look into it.

 

It's amazing how little respect youth seems to have these days, it sounds to me like 19 and 23 is old enough to take an a__ kickin like a man. It seems everyone has been so afraid to hurt their self esteem noone has ever even talked mean to them. Hopefully just a serious talk will fix it but as Kenny Rogers once said "sometimes you gotta fight when you're a man".

I have 2 assault charges for "taking things into my own hands"! So just a little advice... BE CAREFULL with how you act or react to a situation! Speeder came down my street, I yelled, he yelled and fingered me, I went after him, so he stopped I then procceded to win the fight, 1 punch and he left, and 2 days later I was arrested for assault, next time I was more calm, instead of punching I grabbed and yelled, since this was not a first offense...guess what, assault # 2!!! Would I do it again, ?? Hard to tell, but they have me on Lexapro, for anger, and it seems to work, I am just trying to prevent someone from going thru the "system" like I did, for what I feel was someone elses fault. The police here, need to SEE it happen before they do something, UNLESS, there are marks on there faces!!! ...Ken

 

Well I made a couple of calls, to my pd friends and to the pd again today, and this afternoon when I was outside loading my trailer for another job and the ricer burners were driving nice n slow down my street. I don't know if the cops or someone came and had a talk with them, but it was pretty strange to me. I will see what happens in the next day or so, I did go around and check all the license plates, makes models, and colors so that the next time it happens, I can accurately call it in , and give the po po the info on who it really was. I have a bunch of hardi plank siding, and tons of lumber, I guess I could say someone was going through my trash and must have pulled it out into the street, come to think of it , I do have a fiberglass bathtub.shower cut into about 6 pieces, I think im gonna go lay one out in the street here shortly somone will hit it or move it

I have not heard any tonght though since I have gotten home but I have only been here an hour or less.
I really appreciate all the comments, stories and suggestions. I do not want to take things into my own hands, nor do I want to knock or bad mouth other car kultures, but these fucckers ruin it for all of us, simply because they don't give a rats ass about anyone or anything.

 

Hey Ken, I don't have assault charges filed on me, but at the rate things have going they might be murder charges. Anyhow, I am lucky taht the majority of the cops on my beat are my friends, and do stop by on a regular basis, but as they all have told me, until they are caught red handed, there is little they can do unless I am able to video tape them, then they will have some evidence and might beable to get a judge to file some kind of charge on them for endangering the lives of others, or wreckless endangerment etc.

As for lexapro, I usually take 20mg a day sometimes 40 mg if I dont feel quet right, and It doesn't do a damn thing for me. I have an appt. next week with my doc for a change of that crap and to talk about my migraines(they are getting worse) Stress sucks . hahahaha I don't think I need drugs, I just need more SEX.....

I just do not see what the big deal about hauling ass through these neighborhood streets is.
Oh as for inviting them to the track, CORPUS CHRISTI sucks fat donkey cock, and has no track, hell they cant even keep a simple dirt or assphalt roundy round track open for more than a season. There was this kid (same age as me) that useto live around the block and would do the same shit. Everday haul ass around the neighborhood just to park his car, burn out to leave. It gets old quick!
So one night my brother and I went over and put tiny pebbles in his valve stem caps. The dumb ass was the type of person that didnt look at his car before getting in and would just haul ass off. It was great to see the next day he had all brand new tires...

Tie a rope to a metal or even plastic trash can,pull it tight across the road just high enough for his front end to catch it and tie it to a tree or post or something secure ( make sure your other neighbors are aware of this) at @45-50 he wont notice the rope but he'll get the message...We did this in an alley along the RR tracks where a guy did the same thing.Just sit back out of sight and watch the fun!

 

When I lived in San Diego; they had an ordinance where if so many complaints were made, they'd put in speed bumps.
a couple times going over them and crushing their fiberglass bodykits or shiny non-existant mufflers and they will slow down

 

You can always get a junker driver and not get out of the way in time. When I lived in Manteca, they installed speed bumps when a 3yo boy was killed. Too late for him.

My real suggestion is do the video tape thing, but to add to the evidence, at least here in the states Mattel now sells a Hot Wheels toy radar gun.

 

we were sitting on a buddies front poarch drinking one night a while back. it is a residential area and people would just hauling ass up and down his road every so often. well on my way in i noticed at the top of the hill that somebody had set a couple tires in the road. they were slightly off to the side like somebody kicked em out of the way. after a couple cars had sped past the house i walked up the hill and rolled the tires (one with a rim still in it) down the road right past my buddies house. there were cars parked on both sides of the road so there was a little more than one lane worth of room to drive down. well we put one tire in the road in front of his house with enough room to drive around it if you were going slow enough to see it. next car we see is haulin balls up the road, sees the tire and SLAMS on the brakes and just hits the tire and pushes it a foot or so. no damage, they backed up and went around it MUCH slower than they had been going originaly. at some point somebody moved the tire out of the road.
well a couple hours pass and couple other cars had sped by about 50mph when the girl i was seein grabs the tire with rim and puts it in the road right in the middle. we are sitting there quite a while when we hear a car come SCREAMIN down the hill. by now we had all forgotten about the tire (we had consumed ALOT of beer by then) when BAM!!! these fuckers never even saw the tire cause they were going so damn fast. they musta been doin 60 when they hit it. blew out both tires on the one side but they did'nt stop. hell, they barely slowed down. we all thought somebody had fired a shot from the car when the tire blew. a couple of us hit the deck and the rest of us sat there with a "what the fuck???" look on our faces. she actually felt pretty bad about it but we told her not to sweat it. if they had'nt been doing a hundred in the middle of a residential neighborhood they would'nt have hit that damn thing. still we did'nt do that again. i think the reality of potential liability set in.

get em on camera. thats the best way probably. but if that does'nt work and you have to get midevil on their asses make sure they understand that you are MUCH crazier than they are. it's worked for me a couple times ...

 

We had a local guy (early 20's) doing the same thing. My neighbor called the cops, they went and talked to him.
The cop told us if he does it again, write up a complaint, have everyone in the neighborhood who saw him do it sign it, and they'd come out and write him a ticket. I was pretty surprised at that but then again, My neighborhood is full of kids.
It helped, I haven't seen him racing around then neighborhood since, that was about 6 months ago.

 

Its not always the younger kids driving fast down the road.The other day I was out front helping some of the neighborhood kids fix there bikes cause they all know I'll help them fix them.And an older lady(late 40's)that always speeds past my house almost hit one of the kids on his bike.She came to a skiding stop so fast the it killed the motor even with an automatic it scard her so bad that she pissed her self.Now when she drives down the road she does about 5 miles an hour.Fixed her.

Last year we went up to play in the snow for the day and had a problem with ppl speeding past use on the side of the road so we built a speed bump but it was about 2 feet tall and about 4 feet wide.One of the cars called the CHP on use so when he got there he made all of use shovel all the snow we used to make the speed bump off the road he said it was a hazered for the drivers.
