Guys I need some quick answers.

My 20 yr old niece has taken up a profession as a den mother for 4 druggies in San Antonio and I will be going to Crystal City to rescue her 2 yr old daughter.

I am leaving Wisconsin in about 4 hours and will drive straight through to Texas in a small motorhome. What is your weather like at thia time of year? My wife would like to see some thing other than the windshield and I have never been to Texas in my life.

What is to see and do? How warm are the days and how cold are the nights? Please respond quickly.

Thanks and pray for a safe and fast trip.

    Hey Kermit,
good luck with the trip. The weather is nice right now. Highs this week will be between low 70s and low 80s. Lows between high 40s and low 60s. We might see some showers over the weekend, but it is sunny in Austin right now. What kind of stuff is your wife into? Museums and historical stuff? Music? Hot rod shops?
San Antonio is a neat place, lots of history. The Alamo is there. The river walk has some nice shopping and is a neat area, good place to eat a meal and walk around. Give me an idea of what you're looking for and how long you've got and I can try to be more helpful.
    Drive safely,
    John Joyo...

Can get down to freezing at night... 70's during the day... Variable however.

There's lots to do in San Antonio... The Alamo, Sea World... Etc...

There are caverns and other natural-type things to do as well...

Texas is a real big state and it kinda depends on where you're going or want to stop...

very sorry to hear. this week looks good: high 70s lows 40s (laughable to you, i'm sure).

lots to do/see in austin. the drive from north tx all the way here is pretty boring...nothing but farms. pretty much looks like you'd imagine tx to look like.

    good luck.

the weather is beautiful right now, lows in the low to mid 40s, highs in the mid to upper 60s. I second seeing the Alamo, if you have time head back up I-35 to Austin and take a tour of the capitol. After picking up the little girl just take the back roads through the hill country it is great this time of year.

Weather forecast thru the weekend central Texas high in upper 60s low 70s, low in the high 30s low 40s. No rain in the forecast.
Stop @ the visitor center when you crossover into Texas, assume you will come in on IH 35, good place to get info on what there is to do tourist-wise.
Car-wise don't know of much going on right now.

Thanks alot guys. We will hit the visitor center on I-35 at the State line.

Hell, 60-70-80 seems like heaven. I have been watching the ice freeze on the lake outside my shop. Not fun.

Hope we have a safe and trouble free trip.

Try some of the back routes opposed to the interstates. 35 sucks in my opinion, might be more scenic to run south on the 281.....

Texas is 800 miles "wide" and 800 miles "tall." :D There's a lot to see and do here. :D

Good luck with your trip, sorry about your deadbeat daughter, kudos to you and your wife for stepping up for the kiddo. Life's a bitch sometimes.

Stop off at Natural Bridge Caverns on the way back, the signs are all along I-35, you can't miss it. The kid will get a kick out of it.

Oh yeah, be sure to see the basement in the Alamo. :D

Crystal Meth ... it is a real problem in the rural South ... we had a big shoot out on the other side of town 2 days ago ... a deputy stumbled up on a Meth Lab cooking and got shot ... :(

Half the people in jail now are in for drugs and most of the rest are in for non payment on their child support. A lot of over the counter medicene has been removed and put behind the counter now ... Druggies and Thieves ... I hate them ...

I admire you for stepping up ... for the little 2 year old ... :)

You are to be commended for the great members on JJ. The out pouring of people willing to share a Thanksgiving dinner or to provide a phone number in case we need help or a place to stay is tugging on the heart strings. Let's hope we do not have to bother any of them.

    Happy thanksgiving to all.

  15. You wouldn't be bothering me. When I leave Grandma's Friday morning, I'll be hundreds of miles away from any of my family. I don't have any wife or kids, so I'll be hanging out at the car show or in the garage.
