That's what I'm saying! I bought a 6120W (the Nashville western) last year, I haven't played my PRS since.

I've got the guitar that would make plowboys day. A metal up your ass Jackson V. I got it when I was 12 what was i thinking. It sounds great but I really wish I would have bought that gibson.

    Root...musicians ARE the "Special Class."
    Say, that reminds me.....
Did ya hear about the drummer that locked his keys in his car?
It took them an hour to get him out! I could go on and on......

I LOVE the white falcons and black falcons. The white penguin and black penguins are bad ass too. They are the duo jet (solid body) versions.
Almost everything gretsch makes is top notch. I like the TV jones pickups too.

I guess we've prolly all seen this one.....????? The note inlays are about as cool as the "tach" that moves with the attack of the strings. At least they were smart enough to make only 25 of them and sell them for charity.

Being a lefty Imy choices have been limited. I keep a Korean Strat under me desk at work to practice at lunchtime, and I have this one at home:
It's a squire Protone, one of the BEST KEPT SECRETS of the guitar world. The pieces are all American Standard Strat, and the Pro-Tones were the first ones assembled in Korea. They stopped making them because they were hurting the American standard sales so much. I paid $150 for this one and I LOVE it.

I just wish i could PLAY the thing worth a damn...lol

  10. If everyone is showing the rigs I'll show mine. As for the FenderSO Cal Fender I don't think it's American Made. The Fender guys know what I'm talking about.

I have an Ovation acoustic/electric. I don't play though. It was just a birthday present to myself a few years ago for no good reason and misplaced false sense of ambition. I'm taking a class at community college this winter though.

    My friends are all hippies.

Fender owns Gretsch, bought it in 2000, and discontinued the model I wanted. I needed to find it used. Most new Gretsches are made in Japan, including the Brian Setzer signature models and the Nashvilles. I had to get over paying big bucks for a foreign made guitar, but the fact is that the vintage US made Gretsches age like SHIT!!! Unlike Gibsons and Fenders that get better with age, Gretsches deteriorate (finishes check, bindings and plastid parts oxidize, crack and fall off), and ones like that beautiful vinatge 6120 posted go for between 5 and 10 grand....to spendy for me. The Jap Gretsches are really nice, and are a very good quality. The Jap Fenders are pretty bad, but the Mexican and US models are nice quality. I also have a '93 US Strat plus deluxe, nice guitar

i have also heard on multiple occasions that the new gretsches are much better than the vintage ones...i agree from my own experience...the new ones are solid...well built and sound like the old ones...but better...

You guitar guys are funny...try playing saxophone sometime...here's my main axe...1965 Mark VI Selmer tenor...this horn's a hot rod....keywork opened up to project better, sterling silver resonators on each key pad, custom key modifications, customized Selmer Reference 54 neck, laquer stripped to enhance sound ( stripping a horn brightens it up big time...and let's it resonate like it's supposed to....look, you wouldn't paint a cymbal would you? That'd be dead as hell and sound like shit...cymbal's are brass...saxes are brass...see??) The mouthpiece I play is a hand made custom piece from Dave Gaurdala in New York...and the funny part is each mouthpiece costs about $600, which is the price of the guitar that started this thread....A Selmer Mark VI is known as the Holy Grail of saxophones....you can get a museum quality one that has never been played for about $12000, but a player's horn (one that is for use and not valued for it's cosmetics) can be had a little cheaper. I've got about $7000 in this horn...and I play at least 5 gigs a week on the old girl, so it definitely gets used the way it was originally intended...it just get's a little mind blowing when you start to think that you've got over $16000 invested in three saxophones...(cuz I have an alto and a soprano too)...I've owned this tenor for about 11 years, it came out of France originally, out of New York right before I got it, and for all of you in the know, it was supposed to go to Sonny Rollins, but the guy decided that Sonny had too many horns already, and sold it to me instead! I sold a red '63 Impala with 70,000 original on it to buy this axe....here's all of my different band websites...Go Practice! :)

    Very cool horn!!!!!!!
I played sax for about 6 years when i was back in school..alto then on to tenor..but nothing even remotely close to a piece like yours..we had a kick ass jazz band back then..
Many time's i've wondered why i stopped..i dig music and should have stuck with it..

I actually like the "socal" paint scheme, well, most any scalloped design.....but they can keep the logo..

That Gretsch 6120 is a work of art!!!

What do you think of the new Selmers? I like the look of this Hummingbird model.

Getting back to guitars, this Hummingbird model is interesting. It reminds me of a Moserite that I used to have. Only $600.00 also.

  26. I don't know a (whole) lot about axes, but this looks like as good a deal as Ive' seen for a TELECASTER. This guy sounds like he cares about what he builds......

Here's my two ,60 custom shop strat and a Gretsch Tennesee Rose. The best of both worlds. Next is a Tele. Someone on here had a lime gold hot -rod Gretsch for sale not to long ago. I think he was in Florida and it was $1800. I wouldn't buy that So-Cal strat for nuthin. Ruined a good guitar. Gary

My Wall of Fender. If the Fender Telecaster isn't the Model A Ford of electric guitars, I don't know what is.
